Only had the pleasure of meeting Brix the once when we met up for the saints game, it was all to brief, just greetings and the usual introduction chit chat in the c & s. But what stuck me was that in the months leading up to the trip over you kind of build up an image in your minds eye as to how you imagine a person to look based on their writing and i had kind of built up an image of Brix as someone in their late 40's early 50's such was his way with words he seemed to have a younger outlook on life, so it was quiet a surprise to meet this kind of father figure that day who introduced himself as Brix..... Brix you will be sadly missed by all of us on here.....Roller lovely tribute, i think you write for all of us...... God Bless
To say that Deon's message came as a shock is an understatement. I had no idea David/Brix was unwell and am so very sorry to hear the sad news. I'm finding it hard to take in. Whether you enjoyed his warm, perceptive posts or had a drink with him in the pub, Brix was great value. He wasn't loud or the centre of attention. I sensed, as Roller has alluded to, he was actually quite reserved by nature - seriously competent at whatever he put his mind to - and absolutely genuine. I much enjoyed sharing modding duties with him. In that role, his judgement and people skills were unequalled. I hope he found it useful to use me as a sounding board, but he was always the unseen driving force towards the success of the board, achieving the balance between free speech and censorship when necessary, and skilfully resolving disputes. He had to put in a great deal of his personal time, but he really enjoyed interacting with fellow R's fans. He has been a great friend to this board and will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with his family, Pat and Deon. I send them my deepest sympathy and condolences. It was a great privilege to know David. I shall not forget him.
Just clocked on and saw this. Complete shock at this terrible news Brix was a great bloke and modded this place very well He'll be sorely missed and I would like to pass my condolences on to his family and friends. Ill miss his level headed approach and wit A sad day indeed
Very sad news to hear a fellow football fan has passed away, much respect and condolences to the family and friends from a football fan in Swansea
I've just logged on and read Deon's post. I really can't believe it and I have read through the entire thread hoping against hope that it was all some terrible wind up. I'm not ashamed to say that I have tears in my eyes as I write this. Great tribute Roller...thanks for that mate. Deon, you need to know that your Dad was always so proud of you mate. Whenever I met him before a game, it was so obvious that he loved you to bits and was always bursting with pride whenever he mentioned you. Pat.............my deepest sympathies. Although I only met you and Deon a couple of times, I now wish I'd had more time to spend with such a lovely family. David (Brix) was an incredible force on here and I feel honoured to have met him in person and was able to call him my friend. An intelligent, affable and very knowledgeable man, David will be sorely missed. Loftus Road will forever be a little dimmer for his passing. RIP Brix.............one of the best.
Sincere condolences to Brixton's family and friends and to all of you on here. I just followed the link from another MB and I am so sad for all of you. Rest in Peace, Brixton and sincere sympathies to his family. xx
