It is exciting and, whilst I do think Cook could do a job for us and get us out of this division,I'm not sure he could push us on further. I think it's so important for us to get a managerial team in place who are going to be here for the longer term.Short term thinking is one of the reasons we're in the **** where we are now and we need to reverse that under a new regime.Managerial and mass player upheavel every July is not good for us!
A longer term, well funded plan, with everyone buying into it, is what we need.

I agree to an extent but if there is a philosophy within the club and the players and managers are brought in to reflect that, then there is no continuous upheaval. The manager gets sacked, a new one comes in to fit that philosophy and the players at that managers disposal can already play the way he wants to play. That’s the benefits of an identified playing style within the club and a DOF overseeing it. The problems come from blindly lurching from manager to manager all who have different ideas to the last. Consistency is the key. It means every player at the club learns to play the SUNDERLAND way from the kids right the way up to the first team. Transition from junior to senior football should become easier for that reason

Love the sound of that “the SUNDERLAND WAY” it would be fantastic to have people talk about us that way but where do we start and with who?

A DOF with a clear view of the way we progress is the first appointment and as you say, a manager that buys into that philosophy bringing in players he feels can execute it. Just feels so far away from where we are now.

Agreed mate, think we're essentially saying the same thing.

Good shout, he did well at Swindon but I think our next appointment will largely depend on our new owners’ financial clout and level of ambition.

Do we go again with someone with league 1 experience but with better tactics than Parkysaurus or convince someone from the leagues above to come and be part of the rebuild, someone like Eddie Howe?

If you want to be seen as ambitious as a new owner then you need to convince somebody from the higher leagues to drop down. I think whoever gets the DOF job should have experience of the English leagues rather than someone who's only worked abroad so should have done idea who would be interested in taking the now head coach job

That would be my preference, the likes of Wilder and Howe both have the T-shirt. I think if Wider became available he’d be snapped up pretty sharp mind.

Roswell was a disaster from day one I agree, but apart from his medical history, which was well known, I would think most supporters were quite happy with his recruitment or at least the ambition we were showing. Signing players with past medical issues has been one of our biggest downfalls over the years IMO.

Yep when he arrived i thought a good box to box player and a few goals.... FFS was I wrong. I think thats what made it worse, my high expectations of him and his subsequent uselessness!

Why is the term 'sporting' being used, are we diversifying from footy?
I think they are planning to run car boot sales in the car park during the week and making a street food court on the pitch selling foods from around the world as an additional income stream so Rodwell will be in charge of this aspect. Probably wont have much time to deal with the football side of things. Once the monorail is up and running hes going to be stamping tickets at the park and ride and performing random spot checks, issuing fines for stowaways.

In my opinion the reason why our recent performances have been so poor is that PP knows his days are numbered, which has been transmitted to the players, and will likely continue.
Any changes need to happen without delay, before we get too far adrift.
That would only show how piss poor he is. A good manager would be viewing the situation as this is his advertising to prospective new employers just how good I was. Instead all they will see is dross.

I would not be confident in him one bit, I have tried to give him the benefit, but he has proven that he is incapable of pulling us out, his tactics are bizarre, he should of changed it up straight after the penalty went in, but no let’s wait until at least the 65th minute then have a go with less than 10 mins to go.

absolute shambolic of a manager, needs to be sacked with immediate effect, hopefully these new owners would of seen the match in Saturday.

Exactly this, can count on one hand where he has changed things on the pitch apart from 'like for like' substitutions. Against MK dons when we pushed them back 2nd half it was crying out for us to attack their fullback Lewington with pace as he is OK on the ball but looks like he is running in treacle(like most of our players I must add) but Parkinson waits till the 80th minute to put Diamond on. Then when we did make that substitution they dropped their winger back and pushed Lewington inside him too counteract this. Would Parkinson have reacted and changed us around like their manager did or stood on the sidelines with his arms folded like usual!!!

We should play a full on attacking style up to the first team to develop scorers, dead ball players, etc.

Once you arrive at the first team it's much easier to drop players back, especially wing backs than suddenly expect them to find an eye for goal.

Keepers should be told to always play out from the back ...

.... you can learn to launch a ball upfield in minutes.
There is a world of difference in just launching the ball up field and launching the ball up field to your own players. That is why Pickford is such a key player and keeps his place for England.

That said, if you drill your outfield players to be in certain areas and drill your gk to kick out to those zones then at least you would have a good chance of completion.

The only thing I can think of to say regarding Parkinson, is that if he is left here for any further length of time, then it will be just punishment for his gormless tenure. He clearly hates it here, knows the job is beyond him and is just waiting for someone to pay him to sod off.

Right guys, don't shoot the messenger. NQD has just messaged me the below. It's an interesting take as it's completely different even to those saying "it's not a takeover". To paraphrase, he's saying this is just leaked from inside the club and isn't as advanced as anybody thinks.
Just figured out why he’s “banned” same IP address as kittens, who was banned last week. Just speculation but I bet I’m just about right.

Say that and he'll be stomping around RTG claiming everyone is obsessed with him plus he throws a fit if you say he's NQD ...

... despite the fact he obviously is.
