One simple change of moving Connor over then their fullback can no longer commit forward freely as he now has defensive responsibilities he didn't have before. With a little bit of deffencive duty for conner and they have to work like **** to get crosses in. Notice the lack of ball in from the otherside where rev was covered by AJ, AJ didn't even need to put a defensive shift in, just being where he was giving their left back a job to do stopping form attacking.. Can't believe I'm explaining it really, 40000 people could see PVA needed cover 10 minutes in, not after half time. Isla must have though all his Christmas came at once.
It's the closest I have ever come to leaving early. To be honest if Gomez had come out for the second half I was leaving then. Seems a bit harsh naming him when most of the others were poor as well but he is not EPL quality imo. Gus should have changed things after 15 mins.
Agreed Smug. Too stubborn. May cost him his job if we go out on Sunday. Cannot see us losing like assuming he goes for it and doesn't sit back. I see a fairly comfortable win.
Sorry, I'm not having the fans to blame argument. The utterly miserable performances, at home, over the last 2 seasons would try anyone's patience. The groans, from the crowd, are not intentional but are born out of sheer frustration.- it's quite natural I think Gus is totally missing the point. The fans would love to have a half decent team to cheer on but that's not what we're getting by any stretch of the imagination
I saw him put his head in his hands when a Gomez misplaced a pass, he then turned to the bench and just shrugged his shoulders. So it's ok for him to be passionate and react to a mistake but not us? He's a bell end.
What Poyet doesn't realise is that we're sick to death of the word 'patience'. From Alan Durban & Jimmy Adamson to Steve Bruce & Martin O'Neill we've been told for decades that we need to be patient. What Poyet is experiencing isn't the result of one season of disappointment, it's the grinding draining inevitability of yet another wasted season.
Agreed He should understand that he isn't the only one kicking every ball with the team, there's 40000 fans doing it too, hanging on every pass. It's passion. Gus has it so he should know passion manifests in different ways depending on the circumstances. It's all a cop out. Just passing the buck because the pressure is getting the better of him. He's in charge of a proper club now, one that's been dragged through the mill and I just don't think he has what it takes mate.
I think most premiership clubs would be gobsmacked if they could still pull in 40,000+ crowds week after week, when serving up such dire football and calling it entertainment. SAFC has fantastic support and yet the aim seems to be to drain the passion out of its supporters, grind them down and then blame them FFS! We KTF and those that attend week in week out (especially those that travel the country following Sunderland) deserve so much better. I take my hat off to them and I would suggest Mr Poyet and the SAFC board do so as well and stop the criticism. They should also check the thesaurus for the following words: team, passion, attacking, football, tactics, loyalty & success because it doesn't seem to me atm that they are clueless as to their meaning. Apologies for the 2nd rant in 2-days, but I had only just gotten over the Hull debacle..........
The support at Bradford will be huge, loud & passionate. If we lose it will no doubt be 'because the supporters are too expectant and therefore put pressure on the players'. It's the easiest trick in the book to blame the supporters.
perhaps the club should put all our loyal away supporters in a special section for free for the next home game as an example to the others of how to get behind the team ,as the away support is awesome they deserve a thankyou from the club IMO
I honestly feel that Gus is trying to protect his players and many are taking his comments far too seriously...Surely we all want the same objective in the long run?
Nowt against the players. It's Poyet who's getting it wrong imo. I'll blame the players for poor displays when Gus starts playing to the squads strengths instead of asking them to be something just follow his footballing ideals.
Could hear the atmosphere through the stream 1st half and it wasn't pretty, Gomez was ****e, but it must have been really hard for him with the stick he was getting. Second half came across much better
It was harsh like. An assassination. His confidence will be at an all time low now. As bad as he was he wasn't as bad as Gus.
First half our supporters were every bit as shambolic as some of the players..Second half both rallied round to the cause, and if we are ever going to move forward we need more of that from the fans..
Fans should support the team, I agree. But it is not compulsory and they don't have to turn up. They are there to be entertained, so when they get to a game expecting excitment only to find that the manager has decided to put a player on the pitch who is known to be under confident and off his game and leave a player who has shown promise on the bench, they quite rightly get the fekin hump. The QPR match was a 'must win', they played it like a 'must lose' and the buck stops with the manager in my view. As I put before, besides the Newcastle results and the 'miracle', the rest of Mr Poyets tenure has been, at best mediocre football and occasionally woeful and the fans deserve better, hence the mood at home games. I want him to succeed, but FFS get a grip man and stop moaning about the fans
ON Tuesday night - when we went 1-0 down to QPR - I stood up and shouted - top of my voice - "Come on Sunderland" - normally there is a bit of a rousing shout like that and it feels like the crowd are urging them on - Tuesday me and my son were on our own - not a soul around us joined in. Had we been playing Man City or Liverpool or Utd - the whole crowd would've been up on their feet even though we'd gift-wrapped the first goal with a shiny bow. Silence. I don't know if it would;ve made a difference but it certainly does against the bigger sides - you can see the players lift when the crowd gets behind them after conceding. On Tuesday we didn't - it was as if the crowd rolled over as well as the team
