The fans do not help the situation. When I was at the Burnley match, the fans were either quiet or negative. There was a really bad vibe around the stadium and it affected the players. In reality, what the fans feel or do should not have an impact but it was telling that once the first goal went in, everything changed. The fans were more up for it and the style of play was much, much better! The problem with the North East, is we are a victim of our own passionate support.

Yes, the players are not great and your manager is sub par (like most of the Premier League) but try going in with a positive outlook. You never know. Sometimes delusion can help ;)

Spot on mate you have to get behind what's out there. Leave the hiring and firing to those in charge.

It is the same at St James' though. Obviously things are horrid up there and our disenchantment is more with the management rather than the playing staff but it makes everything so much worse. We have a saying. Support the team, hate the regime. It's cheesy as hell but the sentiment, for us, is spot on.

Yes he does. Do you watch his interviews?

He's always saying they're not good enough. They don't have the quality to attack... bla bla bla.

Players sense anxiety from the crowd, it's only natural, nothing to do with them 'manning up' or 'growing a pair'. United players do it, Barca players do it, Munich players felt it when Madrid were tearing them limb from limb last season at The Allianz.

It's not booing, it's just nervousness, you can't blame the fans for this.

There's two ways to get over this and both include running through walls psychologically.

One is from your 'Leaders'... where's Cattermole? Not playing. Where's your passion coming from? A simple smash-tackle or surging run from a leader on the pitch, can get the fans roaring, but the only leader I see amongst you other than Cattermole is O'Shea who's really not the type to do either.

The other way is from your manager... his instructions have to be to go direct, you can't generate passion from the crowd with tiki-taka bullshit, there has to be something to get them on their feet, other than tapping it around sideways and keeping the ball for large periods of time, because that doesn't work.

If Poyet fails to recognise that you lot can make the difference, then he doesn't deserve to be sacked, he deserves to be shot.

Watch his interviews. I don't read newspapers because of the politics and bias. Straight from the horses mouth I'm afraid, he's been extremely critical of his squad all season and has started blaming the fans for the fact they have no confidence.

He needs to look closer to home and give them the confidence to believe they have the ability to go forwards. That way the crowd will get behind them.

I'm sure it looks great on the training ground mate.

Look at our attackers, Di Maria, Rooney, RVP, Falcao, Mata... would you ever think it would take until mid February for just one of them (RVP) to get into double figures for the season?

You might think I'm being radical comparing our situation to yours, but in effect it's the same story for me. If I wanted to watch a bunch of lads try to play keep-ball I could go down the local park and watch older bullies take the ball of the young kids.

I'me amazed at the minute how ****e us and the mags must be can't remember the last time we had a go at each other on here, both teams just seem to be going through the motions and thats no way to get any crowd behind you when they look as though they dont give a ****.

I'll be the behind the players this weekend as always. If Gus ****s up again then full time is the time to tell him and not while the players are out there following instructions and trying their best.

I think the system has made it look as though they don't give a ****. Gus finally decided to have a go in the second half against QPR and the players looked invigorated. Then Gus put down that commitment in his comments after, refusing to acknowledge those efforts as football. We need to go more direct, not drastically, ball still on the deck, just a bit more urgency, give the opposition less time to reorganize. What I saw in the second half against QPR looked like a group of players who'd shrugged the monkey and were enjoying having a go.

Gus' system makes them look lethargic and disinterested imo. I think the truth maybe that the players are frustrated at not being able to express their individual strengths and that instead are being stifled by one man's ideal of a style of football they're just not capable of producing.
