Well we are not going to agree on this one. I hope people can realise two things though:

Reacting like some do to mistakes and backwards passes hurts the team.

Changing your manager as regularly as we do hurts the club.

All day today I've read accounts of people going to the pub/logging off/closing streams after 10/15/20 minutes.

I knew the set up was suicide after 10 minutes .... PVA kept looking at Poyet and shrugging.

It was like waiting for the trapdoor, on the scaffold, to open.

The crowd sensed it and were ****ting their pants expecting another 'Hull'.

No I'm saying even though I'm an experienced and qualified coach, I don't for one second think I understand the tactical intricacies of football at this elite level. There are reasons for various selections of players and formations. They exposed us on that side but if we'd dominated the 3v2 we had in the centre like we should've done, we'd be praising the shape. It went the other way, partly due to QPR playing well in the first half.

And easily scored 2 goals ........... we didn't dominate any part of the pitch, if that isn't down to the manager then who?

Were you there last night? it was frightening the inactivity to combat the left side problem in the first half the whole ground could see what was happening but we know nothing about football apparently - btw I have never booed but by f**k I felt like it last night - incidentally why did he make the change at half time was it to appease the crowd or do you think he realised he got it wrong? (and won't admit it?)

I have to say that 40,000 people, some like me who have been going for 40 years, feel entitled to know just a tiny little bit about football.

Or are we just expected to turn up, year after year, in awe of the incredible football brains of a series of non achieving managers?

Last night the players let the supporters down ........ anyone who says the opposite can go and fck their own anus tbh.

Smug my first game was in 67 - I have never seen anything like that last night - the f**king seagulls were screaming cover the left side (well I think that's what they were screeching anyway) but ffs nothing done about it obvious the "total football" takes precedence

No but I watched online. I think the change was a bit of both, our shape wasn't working (the central 3 weren't dominating) and Gomez confidence was probably shattered.

Ffs I'm not saying we know nothing, I saw it myself it wasn't difficult to spot! I'm saying he had a reason for his shape and one of the pitfalls of it was that our flanks weren't protected. One thing I will say is that he does seem to wait until half time to sort things out for some reason.

Smug I'd venture to say it was at least partly Gus fault but why didn't Gomez, Seb and Brid get the better of their 2 CMs? QPR fans could be saying their formation left their CM exposed. As it turned out they started better and we had to change

He shouldn't have been picked because his contribution is virtually zero ..........

    It's easy to rationalise mate.

Are you saying the supporters let the players down more than the other way round ........... yes or no?

Sunderland have won 5 games this season. Jordi Gomez has started all 5.

He has his flaws and is infuriating to watch but he clearly contributes something. His inaccurate passing last night was in characteristic I believe. Bri I'm sure you have some stats. He normally keeps it really well, just very slowly!

I think that online is different to actually being there (for whatever reason - we cannot all be there so not getting at you for that) My SC seat is in the East stand and this left side debacle unfolded right in front of me. The Qpr players were not even looking when they passed the ball out to their right - they new they had the advantage and this went on from the first minute to the last minute of the first half - naff all was done about it until we were 2-0 down at half time. Then he changes it and we are all over them and he says that's not football - what are we paying our money for? to be told we need to understand football?

Rationalise what? Your insults of someone who disagrees with you about football?

I don't think it's as simple as yes or no. The two things are related and hard to separate. I'm saying the players were awful but in mitigation they do fear playing at home due to some fans getting on their backs when they make a mistake.

No wonder the supporters are frustrated and grumbling ....... but 'toxic & poisonous', I really don't think so.

Players terrified to play at home?

Fck off, the whole crowd are 100% on the side of the team.

I'm insulting no one, just giving an honest opinion in a straight forward manner.

Perhaps you could do the same. I'm asking for your own personal take on my question, not a definitive statement.

Are you saying the supporters let the players down more than the other way round ........... yes or no?

Yeah I know it's different but I did see it. It was obvious. However, they had an extra man down that flank, so where was our numerical advantage? It was 11v11 after all.
I believe it was in the centre of midfield. When formations don't match, both coaches are kind of gambling that their team will exploit the advantage. They made the most of it, we didn't dominate where we had the extra man. He changed it, tho I'd have liked him to act sooner too. What I don't agree with is that he was wrong to start with the 4312 shape. Could just as easily have been us dominating and their boss having to go to 3 in the middle.

Yes I agree but the point I am trying to make is that he should have changed it earlier before we were 2 down (or possibly 1 down) but he waited to half time - was he trying to save face? the whole stadium could see it but no its the fans fault apparently
