It's more of a working relationship to do with the OSC than an intimate and personal one. As I understand it, the Allams like to know what the fans think on various topics and I know they speak to a City fan at Allam Marine and also some people at the OSC to get those views. It's purely a 'So what do the fans think?' kind of thing rather than a business thing. I'm involved with the OSC as well and that's why he mentioned it to me, despite me not being best mates with him.

I assure you the Allams DID have that conversation, and I don't think it was in confidence. As I said it's not a business thing and I think the intention was that he shared it with the rest of us. If anyone's the gossip it's me.

I will continue to support the club as I have done all along, but it doesn't mean I won't question the wisdom of the owners at times. I certainly don't hate them, I think they have very good intentions, but I also feel they probably don't have quite ability they think they do at carrying out those intentions.

What has wanting to know what the fans think got to do with what the Allams are going to do? They could cloak their intentions if they wanted to sound people out.

If they are so desperate to please the fans why do what they did?

If I owned Hull City and knew what was going on inside the club I would not be making my decisions, or at least taking them into account, based on fans views when they don't know much about what's going on behind the scenes.

even though 91 other league clubs are doing fine trading in the standard way that football clubs do.

I'm not sure they are doing fine. I bet a large proportion of owners are wanting to get out as long as they can get back some of the money owed.

In every league you will get clubs wanting to pay sensible wages but a few rivals go crazy. What do you do? Pay more and sink in debt or stick to your guns and sink in the league?

I assure you this is NOT the case ... they need the revenue created by corporate services, tv, but the drop in the ocean that supporters provide revenue wise is neither here nor there , its perhaps one players wages for that season ....

Without the fans the club would be less attractive to advertisers and a lot more who provide income to the club.

Do you think they knew anything about marine generators when they took that business over? You learn as you go making mistakes along the way but as long as you employ sound business principles and learn from those mistakes you have a chance of succeeding the way they do.

If they sacked their best managers and looked on the internet for replacements they wouldn't have been very successful.

Oh well, what a load of bollocks that was! Are you basing your daft post on the 'fact' that a massively experienced accountant and businessman does not understand the bascic principals of 'odds'? Everything else becomes tosh on that simple mistake - try again, but harder next time.<doh>:headbang:

Papa Allam isn't an accountant.

I agree with you about odds, though. I don't bet but I understand the basics.

I know you know my feelings on the various aspects of the club so leaving that aside....someone who isn't actually your mate, has an intimate and in depth personal but business conversation with the Allams, then shared the details of said conversation with you? Someone who is not his mate?

If the Allams DID have that conversation with him, I imagine it was in confidence, which means to me at best your not-a-mate is an untrustworthy gossip and at worst, this is just more made up stuff that does noone any favours.

This is just more, unhelpful, **** stirring, moaning crap which I just do not get at all. Why is it so hard to appreciate what we have, and support the club, including the owners? If they DID leave I wouldn't blame them in the slightest. They didnt do what they did for hero worship but surely, even if gratitude is too much, just not actually hating on them isn't too much to ask?

As it happens Madhog, you are completely wrong. I also have a friend who is closely acquainted with this guy, and he told him in a private personal business conversation that the Tooth Fairy is real, and I know that to be true because someone told Premier League Tiger the same thing when he was a child and nobody would lie to a child, would they? So this must all be true! Q.E.D.

oh and lastly .. regarding the scouts .. we havent had any SENIOR TEAM scouts since nigel pearson left ... so there is nothing to get rid of .. but hey lets not let facts get in the way of a good piece of gossip :)

The facts according to who? Certainly not Ehab - "I think we have the existing structure to take care of recruitment. We have a whole scouting team and we have many analysts and scouts in place. There is infrastructure there to deal with recruitment."

There was a poster on the first page who suggested that the Allams would be going on holiday soon. Lets hope they find, sign and announce a manager before that time.

there's just as much evidence that the op's post is false as their is that it's true. Saying that it is rubbish is just as accurate as saying it is fact.
I actually believe it or at Lear I wouldn't be surprised. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that Papa Allam is a big fan of his ego. The reasons behind NB's sackin prove that.
So i think it's more than likely that he is a bit obsessed about the opinion of the fans and his overall image. he wants to be seen as the saviour, revered.

it's also clear to me that they are proper newbies in football. they are lesrning but making mistakes on the way. it doesn't matter whether you think sacking Barmby was right or not for footballing reasons, if he had a good sense of football and fans he would know how to have dealt with it properly.

I didnt read anything the original poster said that sounded massively absurd. So I don't understand those saying its bullshit.

As to fez and the marketing/odds point, I'm sure they understand the concept of numbers but of you are not a gambler you dot necessarily get it. I know many smart people who needed explaining.
He probably doesn't get the system and what it usually means. Who fixes the prices and why. I think that's very likely as gambling is forbidden in Islam.

If we have no scouts who on earth is George Foster and why are we employing him?

On what PLT said i believe him he has no reason to lie, and no reason to make up what he has said.

However i do doubt what Assem said, if he gets rid of the scouting network what manager would come in? Its no doubt something he thinks would work but no manager or no-one in football would agree with him. I know he wants to cut costs but somethings are vital. On the Premier League manager front does that give more to the theory of Gary Megson? I bloody well hope not.

Either way i am not having a go at the Allams just questioning some of their theories.

yeah , about the odds , in betting it has a lot less to do with probability and all to do with massaging the numbers based on where the money is - so the bookie is always swimming

Yet the irony is, if those of us who don't see what there is to criticize over the Allams approach (although we also did like Nick, and would also like to know why he left but we're not losing sleep over it) challenge, respond or try to debate any points raised by people who like to do that (and for the record I admire ISTPLT's responses, I may not agree but he's arguing his point logically, sort of :D ) the first thing that happens is, you jump in and accuse us taking over a thread or calling people names, generally adding nothing at all to the threads other than reminding us of your right to criticize anyone and how you expect to be vilified for it.

Regarding knowing why Nick was sacked, it is entirely possible that the reason they've not come out and told us all is because it would do Nick no favours at all, especially if the assault story is true. Even if it isn't, I still don't believe we'll ever hear the truth over that and once we have a new manager, the majority of us will move on.

The silence is deafening from all parties and not just the Allams. A very good model for some of the empty vessels on here! The bullshit is ankle deep.

Do you suggest we have scouts based in Hull to travel to matches in these countries? I would have scouts based in the countries themselves.

The whole notion is bizarre - in what instance are we best placed? Is there a rich vein of scouts and players out there with a massive aversion to flying? Bullshit around the knees!

So getting rid of our best managers and not replacing them is ok?

Who ffs? Nigel Pearson diod a runner, Barmby was hardly one of our best and Adam Pearson a self -serving autocrat. The commercial directors, chief exec or whatever they were, took us no where except disfunction across pricing and systems. That bullshit's starting to become a concern.

Papa Allam isn't an accountant.

I agree with you about odds, though. I don't bet but I understand the basics.

"Born in Egypt in 1940, Allam fled to the UK from Gamel Abdel Nasser's regime in Egypt in 1968. He studied economics at the University of Hull before working as an accountant at Tempest Diesel."

Seen your apology and correction - but from what knowledge base did you feel free to post such a strong statement; it does not give much else much credibility. Bullshit under the armpits - what a morning this has turned into; what were the odds on that then. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Apologies. I stand corrected. I also see that he worked as an accountant at the company before he bought it and changed it's name to Allam Marine. He will have learned a lot about the company before putting his ideas into practice.

Yup, he seems to know how to do his due diligence before he opens his trap - bullshit alert, snorkels needed:emoticon-0103-cool:

You don't have to gamble to understand the priciple of odds - it's a basic of economics/accountancy that everyone would touch on but be expected to indulge in. To think not is a bit dim, frankly!

I'm sure he's heard of odds but you don't seem to get the point that if he's never been in a gambling environment he doesn't understand the context or that there was a list of managers tht people were betting on
