Supply and demand...?You can be proud of Hull, while still recognising that the retail offer in the city is terrible.
Its. a pity there are no local covenants in place which forces landlords to maintain a property to the standards set by the local authority or be open to compulsory purchase orders at knock down prices. There's some beautiful architecture in Glasgow..

Yes,the House of Fraser building is fairly unique as a shopping spectacle.Buchanan St is pretty upmarket and Buchanan galleries has some nice shops in it too.I visited a couple of months ago.
Far more choices of shops than Hull
Which as Springtiger explained is exactly what you expect due to populations (and visitor numbers from the rest of more rural Scotland)
House of Fraser store is stunning inside (although I understand it has a leaky roof and structural damage which is a worry) and plenty of decent shops in Buchanan Galleries and the other shopping centres etc
We went to the Hill House at Helensburgh in the summer, which for those who don't know is a house designed by Mackintosh. Stunning interior and fascinating exterior encased in a shell of chainmail to protect it from the weather. I couldn't recommend it highly enough and my daughter absolutely loved it (and blamed the builders rather than Mackintosh's design for it not being waterproof - these architects have to stick together)Scotland Street School Glasgow,Charles Rennie Mackintosh designed architectural masterpiece which is now a museum.
I advise anyone coming to Glasgow to go and have a look, easy access by subway too.

It's on my list - I saw the Mackintosh House at the university a good few years ago, and loved it. On CRM matters, The Willow Tea rooms on Sauchiehall St used to do a fab breakfast too.We went to the Hill House at Helensburgh in the summer, which for those who don't know is a house designed by Mackintosh. Grew up with his Dad and Uncle, two top blokes. For anyone that loves to see and hear about the history of Hull, you could do far worse than experience one of Mike Covells guided tours.
He's passionate about Hull and its history, and certainly knows his stuff.
