The new flood defences stop short of this, could be a problem.

That to some degree mirrors what it was like for my parents. Though my father couldn't get home for lunch, tea was on the table at 6 pm. My father went out every night for a pint, though, would only go out at 9 pm until 10.30 pm.

When my Dad died, my mother was the same, she learned to drive, started having holidays overseas, which she had never done before.

Forgot to say on our town walk yesterday the Quayside near Minerva is now complete looks really nice , good design of tiered walls red brick and neutral flooring looks well. Only part missing is the walkway from the pier to opposite the deep around the River Hull entrance is still closed off for some reason . Bloody cold and windy on pier head - as usual !!

Paul Flynn. Don't think he was a scouser.
Started off pushing hot dog barrows from a lock up down Spring Bank into town.
Bun in the oven and in later life had a chippie on Bridlington Harbour.

Sorry I decided to be a bit of a pedant , he was born in Liverpool in 41 I’d read.
Aaccording to the funeral notice. I was actually just checking that my age related memory issues hadn’t got worse - according to my wife and grandkids

Wife met friend from out of town last Saturday and went in HOH found it to be really busy and lively so maybe it will survive. On another note I play golf and 5 golf mates never go into town to Humber St , walks round the marina and riverfront or history etc. They look at me blank when I enthuse about the plus points of the city etc. My wife is not from here and loves the waterfront and all these things she’sees’ them like I do. Maybe I’m flogging a dead horse with them who just don’t have the imagination for history etc.
A builder I knew used to say ‘they are just buildings aren’t they ‘ !!
Yes we are all different I know
Laziness comes into it but the longer they stay out the less confident with the traffic systems they are, which doesn’t help.

Sounds great, caught some of the discussion about it on the radio yesterday. I love the fact that the trees to be planted are already established, they are craning them into position. At least with them being more mature it should hopefully prevent tree vandalism. I remember playing football on 5 a side pitches near Tesco on Hall Road and driving back through Orchard Park to Cottingham, loads of little scrotums had snapped about 20 odd new tree saplings.
