Ipswich would be interesting. Because of the large sell on clause perhaps we would accept 18m if they offered Broadhead to us at a cut price fee?

£18m+40% is actually a very good offer, that said we should hold out for more, or add some kind of legal stipulation that it cannot be negotiated down.

Is that opinion or something you've heard?

I do think he loves it here and if we raised rhe wage structure I think he would sign a new contract! But I wouldn't bet me house in it actually happening <laugh>.
Nope mate I'm not in a position to know anything but it's just my opinion. I don't get the vibes that he wants away and is quite happy here and if he was to be offered a new contract I think he would sign it

it’s not 18m + 40%. The article says they’re going to offer £18m and Spurs have a 40% sell on from us.

Hasn’t it been reported he was offered it and turned it down

I don’t buy in to the idea that Clarke wants to stay here above play premier league football.

I do buy in to the fact he loves it here and will only go for the right move. It’s possible for him to love it here AND want to test himself at premier league level if he gets the right offer
Massively agree

I don’t for one second believe he’d turn down a PL move and more money to remain here.

What I don’t get is why Clarke’s agent doesn’t get him the best contract Sunderland will offer. Then he is on more money, has a longer contract and the financial security that goes with it. That would be the agent looking after him imo.

If another club comes in later with a £20 million ish bid and he wants to go then cool, hope we accept the offer and move on.

I’m obviously not seeing something with this simplistic thinking.

Agents get paid a lot more for moving a player than renewing a contract

I think you don't see many players jump from the championship to the premiership twice never mind 3 times if Clarke backs the wrong club, would be massive gamble to move to the likes of Ipswich

If it was a Everton or a club of similar ilk, I think he'd be gone

Just playing devils advocate here but how are we a more attractive proposition than Ipswich? They’re in the PL, willing to splash the cash, loads of young talent and if they come back down they’ll more than likely be favourites to go straight back up. We don’t even know how long it’s going to take us to be in a position to push automatics yet.

Not that they’re always correct but the bookies have us at 25/1 to go up, sandwiched between Watford and QPR which isn’t really inspiring. They were bang on about Ipswich last season when most of us sat in here scratching their head at why they were one of the favourites!
