Every player we sign doesn’t have to have resale value though, the gems we’ve managed to pick up will more than cover the fee in the longer run. Bayern spent £90m on Kane, his value is only going down.

That's absolutely true.

It's also true that we shouldn't allow SAFC to be bullied by a lower league French club or made to stick another year on the contract by an agent getting above himself.

I love how we are now with these issues ...

... people say we're embarrassing as a club, for whatever reason, but I think we were much worse in the past.

Ellis short would have paid them £10m upfront :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Question for ya mate, do you reckon KS gets the bullet if we fail to get a capable striker in?
Not that I want it to happen (not get the striker in), I value us having a team that can have a go more than his future

Will be end of season I would imagine. If that happened.

But on the contrary we’ll do the same eventually when PL clubs come calling for our players. I know transfermarkt means nowt really but they have Mendy at €4m. That’s more than a lot of our players we see as more valuable than that and players we’d defo turn our noses up if that was offered for them. Hopefully get a deal done soon this is the one position I would just pay the money for and not expect a financial return tbh it’s the final piece of the puzzle really.

We keep hearing that Speakman and the coaches are useless, arrogant and divisive ...

... our players must be terrible judges of character when so many supporters can clearly see the reality.
The world needs someone to blame these days mate. Instant gratification.
Yes we need a striker Yes we need a bit more experience. But we have a you squad with more talent than I could have dreamt of 5 years ago and a young progressive manager who the players obviously connect with.
Speakman might not be the most likeable chap in the world but for me he has done a bloody good job.
Time will tell where we end up but i wish some people would just take a step back and enjoy the football

You can easily flip all that round Bob.

Why sell Clarke for less than he's worth and is actually a senior player who's already proven. Other players, like Neil, Hume, etc, have become, or are becoming, senior players and will be better than last season imo, Cirkin, and others, were really missed and will really improve the team.

Why buy a Mickey Mouse CF or be bullied by agents as we've been so often in the past.

As for Speakman, so he thinks he's right all the time ...

... everyone does, including you.

I'm positive about the club because they're looking at the long term unlike previous owners. Selling Clarke and punting that money might get us up but, then again, it might not. It might upset the dressing room at a time when good players, like Ballard, want to be here. Speakman, and the coaches, don't seem to put these players off nor those like Browne who want to come here.

Hopefully a CF wil want to come, as well, and not just the kind of mercenaries we've had in the past. The last thing we need is to bring one in, on a 3/4 year contract who eventually leaves for nothing having made himself and his agent wealthy. There's a long list of players who fit that description and I'd rather we didn't add to it.
Brilliant Post!

It's very strange how Speakman has become so hated, really is.

However, if i had to choose between him being liked by A) Talented players, who may become good enough for the top half of the PL or B) A bunch of people on chat forums who've never spent any meaningful time with him ... I'll go for Plan A.

It's not just the signings either. If people really believe Speakman and the coaches are so dismal how on earth do they believe Patterson, Neil, Rigg, etc, are developing, watching clips on Youtube? Why are clubs like Man Utd so keen to allow their players to come here on loan if the coaching is so dreadful.

But no logic or reason will change people's minds ...

... Speakman is the bogeyman and him giving every supporter £100 wouldn't change it.

"What does £100 get you these days, I spend that on a night out the skinflint" <laugh>

Who knows?

Let’s see where we’re at in a couple of weeks when the window slams shut.

You're a betting man ...

... how much would you put on Speakman being sacked at evens?

Seriously, what would Ballard, Rigg, Jobe, etc think if, having committed themselves to the club, the DOF is booted out.
