They owed out £193million in unpaid transfer fees.

That’s precisely why Summerville was sold,
Not to finance a replacement for the same ballpark money.
Summerville was sold because he had a relegation clause in his contract, same as Rutter and Sinisterra. That thing about them owing a load of money, while true, wasn't as bad as it was made out originally. They have more than enough money.

They failed to go up last season and there's no guarantee they'll go up this time.

I don't see them as top two so they're in the lottery again ...

... they might need a rollover if they keep spending <laugh>

My fear with Clarke isn’t selling him. It’s a club he wants to move to coming in with a low offer and him going on strike / putting transfer request in.

Now I don’t think it will happen. But I wouldn’t put it past Harte to manufacture something like that. He tried it a few windows back with the “Clarke is disillusioned at Sunderland” comments the day before deadline day.

I said at the start of the window that I heard he would be away. He isn't itching for it but I genuinely think we will not end the season with Clarke here.

Hope I am wrong.

Considering he's our star player, the fact he wasn't featured in any of the 3 kit launches is a bit telling.

I've spoken about selling players so much but as long as the money isn't a bad deal for us i'm pretty excited at the prospect of us having a good amount to spend on a few positions.

Absolutely. You have clicked on.

How do we get them strikers though? Until we sell someone we just won't be in the market for strikers that are serious difference makers, that's just the reality of the championship.

Guess then you have to ask would you rather have Clarke and find the striker market difficult or sell Clarke and find it much easier but obviously not have your best player?
I think that decision will be made for us, by Clarke leaving in the near future. I don’t have a problem with that and hopefully it enables us to bring in a a couple of players.

Good point, I hadn’t realised that.

Ah I wish there was some evidence to prove you wrong. Oh wait, we sold Stewart last summer and spent every single penny.

I preferred the fake Bob, at least they made up a funny story instead of the pure nonsense you come out with.
where has the £10 million gone?? who did we buy ?, im not on about loans or sign on fee's.

Should offer £1.5m with another £1m if we get promotion. Sometimes it pays to forget about resale value and think of the main objective.
That's where a compromise will be found and the deal will be done (if it is) in my opinion. A load of add ons - appearances, goals, team achievements (like reaching playoffs etc)

It's needs to be mate. Otherwise speakman may as well just take his P45.

It doesn’t have to go on signing new players to be spent but we signed Seelt, Triantis, Jobe, Hemir, Mayenda, Aouiche, Pembele Rusyn and Bishop for fees last summer. A fairly conservative estimate would say that’s around 8-10m.?
In January we also signed Mundle and Hjielde for fees approximately around 3m. I’d say we spent every penny we made and some more.
