This is worryingly positive - or is this a double bluff, where the players look good, thus cheering up the fans, fooling the opposition into thinking they might have a game on their hands, so when we all arrive at Anfield in a funeral procession, wearing black, the Liverpool players all spend their time watching the Saints fans being depressed and Saints go into an early lead. But not to worry, we still have FF to even things up.
Don't know, he will probably be selected to start, what he does during the game is subject to conjecture.

Aldridge says that Liverpool fans should give Virgil a good welcome at Anfield....I fully expect their fans to be annoying so he doesn't have to tell them to do that. However, he goes on to say that VVD was desperate to join them in the summer (tick) and still is (not so sure). I don't think he suddenly desperately wants to stay with us (my mother didn't raise stupid children), but a lot can happen in a season....other teams may show an interest. However, I doubt this season at Southampton has improved his profile. .
If Liverpool don't qualify for the Champs League (which I think is pretty likely this season, unless they win it) then Van Dijk probably won't end up there, unless he moves in January (something I don't think would happen). If they do get in the CL then he will end up there I would think.
Thing that frustrates me at the moment (well, one of them) is that whereas it irritated me the exodus post Poch, and to an extent during the Koeman time, because it felt like we were a club on the verge of doing something, now I can't even blame players wanting to go to 'bigger' clubs and opportunities. What's the motivation for someone like Gabbiadini or Lemina to stay at an underperforming, average side. Where's the direction?
