Very old news Mr Thumwood, and common knowledge amongst Southampton supporters. Nothing to do with our current selling of players though.....
Mr Laces Funnily enough I met another s/c today who also worked at the academy. There were a number of contractual wrangles (incl pompey bricklayers putting shirts in cavities and monies being abated, variations being taken out of main contractor's scope, etc, etc.) the spec if extremely high and there is supposed to be about £1 mill worth of post pc variations being carried out by others. There seemed to be a run in between Cortese and Leadbetters but my understanding is that most local contractors refused to work for Cortese in the end because of his aggressive stance / non-payment of monies due, etc, etc. Again, this is pretty much common knowledge amongst Hampshire contractors
Mr Laces Thanks for suggesting that I talk bollocks! Never mind. I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion. For what it is worth, I've deleted my comment about the academy but the remark stemmed from information I was told by a subcontractor who has worked for Southampton FC and which itself had stemmed from an initial conversation we had had about NC's dealings with professionals / contractors. Again, this is well known and has been corroborated by other on N606. I don't know who the PM was on the project (no personal involvement) but the project was put in abeyance shortly after commencement for reasons which, if you work in construction, would be suggestive that the costs could only increase. (Under a number of heads of claim.) Not difficult to come to the over-spend conclusion from what I know and I believe this has been documented in the Echo too. Trust this clarifies the matter Cheers Ian
