IMO I think Gus may be back at the club but as sporting director the role lequipe have referred to

key thing with that is I think you need a manager/coach aligned to his style/philosophy of play so any transfer targets fit well.

To be fair, that applies if you switch the roles around too, if Poyet is/was to succeed as manager, he needs a DOF on the same page and with the same ideas on playing football and player recruitment.
In fact if there’s going to be both roles at SAFC again the two need to work hand in hand with each other. The DOF should be a constant and the managers brought in to fit into an identified philosophy. Fingers crossed the new lads come in and make this a priority.

Ki was technically gifted without doubt but anyone who thinks his displays warranted a contract at our great club never watched his level of commitment during games. Disinterested and half-hearted most times, it was obvious he didn't want to be here.

Exactly my thoughts. The DOF needs to identify the type of football we will play and go out and source the manager who can reflect that and then the 2 can work side by side on recruitment. Then they can both be happy that they are bringing in the right player for the right role.

For me Poyet would certainly show the new ownership is ambitious. I'd still be happy with Paul Cook, served a crappy one with what happened at Wigan last year and the track record of promotion from this league.

It is exciting and,whilst I do think Cook could do a job for us and get us out of this division,I'm not sure he could push us on further. I think it's so important for us to get a managerial team in place who are going to be here for the longer term.Short term thinking is one of the reasons we're in the **** where we are now and we need to reverse that under a new regime.Managerial and mass player upheavel every July is not good for us!
A longer term,well funded plan,with everyone buying into it, is what we need.

We should play a full on attacking style up to the first team to develop scorers, dead ball players, etc.

Once you arrive at the first team it's much easier to drop players back, especially wing backs than suddenly expect them to find an eye for goal.

Keepers should be told to always play out from the back ...

.... you can learn to launch a ball upfield in minutes.

Exactly. All the names being spoken about on here are just old managers who we’ve all heard of. I reckon if it happens it’ll be a name that the the majority will say “who?”.

A bit left field but for someone in and around the lower leagues I wouldn't have minded giving Richie Wellens a go. It'll be interesting to see what he does at Salford now but he had Swindon playing some decent stuff and was unlucky with injuries this season before he left.

Roswell was a disaster from day one I agree, but apart from his medical history, which was well known, I would think most supporters were quite happy with his recruitment or at least the ambition we were showing. Signing players with past medical issues has been one of our biggest downfalls over the years IMO.

Thing is we need coaches in who know what they’re doing to coach the players into better ones. That’s what we don’t have at the moment. And the players themselves need to buy into that ethos.

This is one of the reasons I, upon reflection, reluctantly, don't think Parky should be sacked yet.

The single most important person who needs to sign off on the replacement / choose the manager is the Sporting Director. So until that person is identified, no new manager should be.

You could sack Parkinson and put a caretaker in charge, but that just feels pointless. The club would be in an even worse state of limbo than it is now.

However thats all fine if Parkinson is going reasonably well with us very close to top 2. If we go on a bad run in league it will force their hand sooner.

I would not be confident in him one bit, I have tried to give him the benefit, but he has proven that he is incapable of pulling us out, his tactics are bizarre, he should of changed it up straight after the penalty went in, but no let’s wait until at least the 65th minute then have a go with less than 10 mins to go.

In my opinion the reason why our recent performances have been so poor is that PP knows his days are numbered,which has been transmitted to the players,and will likely continue.
Any changes need to happen without delay,before we get too far adrift.

Would love some of the suggestions like Howe, Wilder, Silva etc. but I just think they may be a little too ambitious and out of reach at this moment in time. Someone who has done well in the Championship maybe but I honestly wouldn't have any idea who. They may well go abroad and bring someone in like Huddersfield did a few years back...

I'd love Wilder here, but realistically, he's not going to drop two leagues to manage us, even if he did find himself out of a job. Hopefully I'm eating my words like.
