Right. Finally caught up with the thread. And so far I've blocked half a dozen posters, hopefully NQD and his alternate personas among them.
For what it's worth, I wasn't entirely sold on Poyet coming back, I remember how things finished with him last time, however if he had I'd have backed him 100%, I have with every manager, even duds like Wilkinson and Grayson. But it does look to me like he's not prepared to work under a DOF, but that's the route we're going down unfortunately. I don't think it's totally dead, but probably 90% as he's the one that's going to have to budge and compromise and from his previous times and jobs I think it's highly unlikely that he will, so we move on.
Other candidates :-
I really can't say anything about the Cowley, I honestly know very little about them. They may be the next big thing, or they may be Parky mk2, I'm going to need a lot more info before I can judge them, but if it is them I'll support them.
Cook - not convinced by him. I know he's done well with Wigan, but sfter the Checkatrade I spoke with some Portsmouth fans who though they liked him, they wouldn't be in a rush to take him back and though Jacket was a slight improvement.
Stendhal - again I'm not convinced. He hasn't been in management long, his career totals less than 120 games and most of his reputation is based on getting Barnsley promoted from league 1, but they struggled badly under him the next season before he was sacked and Hearts were bottom of the SPL and really abysmal before the season was ended. I'd need a bit more to be convinced he's the right man.
Pearson - probably my pick. I don't think he's a long term appointment, but I think he would get us up and give a chance to consolidate before getting a manager in to kick us on. It might be the sensible option if we're going down the DOF route.

There may be more candidates or maybe it will be someone out of left field that gets it. But whether it's one of those 3, Poyet or someone else, I'll get behind them and I hope everyone else does and not just snipe because it's not who they wanted.

I don't think it's all doom and gloom, but I think we'll all just have to wind our necks in and not get carried away until things are signed, sealed and delivered.

Its been suggested that the sporting director might not arrive yet as he might still be under contract elsewhere. What if poyet has turned down the job because of that position but if that is said publicly it might cause trouble for the person due to start that role.

It was weird the way Keith and Roker Report covered it, seemed to both clarify he was not wanting to burn any bridges with the club. Idk maybe it is dead but it wouldn't be hard to say that Gus has been convinced by the project or something similar.

Maybe we should offer the Cowley’s the job until the end of the season? See how they do. After all, we are just drifting the way it is at the moment.

Maybe one of the ITK’s could shed some light but why is Pearson not even being linked barely? I hope it’s not because they are reluctant to pay for his backroom staff? His Cv is different level to the Cowley brothers. This is the problem straight away. People said ‘ don’t worry it won’t be methven and rodwell making the football decisions’ . Now i think it’s obvious Poyet was Sartori’s choice but now we need a plan b. Does the new owner know anything about League 1 managers? I guess not so straight away it’s up to sartori (who’s never in the country) Donald, methven and rodwell to decide who the manager will be and we go back to eastleigh levels of ambitions.

Arguing with two absolute whoppers on twitter because they've got their tongues up Taylor's arse and think he did a good job tonight. Honestly don't understand some of our fans like.

I cant find the odds for the job on paddy power now thats the second bookies to take the market down unless I’m missing something

To be fair, Paddy Power own SkyBet so if it's gone from one, it would have gone from both.

I've just seen someone defend him saying he's only had one days notice. He's the first team coach ffs he knows the players better than Parkinson.

Just strange two companies, granted the same owners, have totally removed the market not suspended it.

I know very little about the betting market but they may not like the complete uncertainty as to who is making the decision. Hard for them to even have a guess at how things would go.
