One ****ing game that sackless, spineless Parkinson shadow had and he pulls the same ****ing stunt, I hope none of the ****ers ever get a job in football again
Unless it's been a tactic to calm things down prior to the game. Downie runs the story, gets another one tomorrow on further talks then it's all back on?
I understand people feeling flat tonight. I am an optimist always and I am focussing on a few things. The takeover must be about done. No way would the current owners have the foresight to consider Poyet let alone offer him a 3 year deal. It is clear to me different people are now at the helm with an entirely different level of ambition. Poyet may still come, stranger things have happened. It may just be a last minute hitch and a call with Sartori overnight smooths everything over. If not Poyet then there are other coaches who can make a real difference (Cook is my personal favourite, but people like The Cowleys and Stendel are also a step in the right direction). The game tonight never felt to me like a chance to show much different. It has only been one training session since Parkinson left and no new voice. It would have been nice to see a bit more from some of them but I think they need to hear different things. In my humble opinion this group of players will look different with 2/3 weeks of coaching from different voices with fresh ideas. I know there is a lack of balance in the squad and ultimately it needs work. However the overall standard in the league is pretty low and I would be confident a quality coach could get this lot playing with much more purpose than they have been, and that could still be enough to see us back in the mix. All is not doom and gloom, at least in my naive opinion.
Exactly my thoughts. All signs pointed to him signing and going for it. No way does he not know that we have interviewed and shortlisted for a sporting director or discussed contract length and wages to himself. Something else has made him change my mind. I can’t help but think it’s Donald trying to move the goalposts for the takeover at the last minute by getting more out of things when a new manager is in place. Then Storey turns up to muddy the waters even more. Guarantee more bad news will come out. It has Donald’s mucky paws all over it.
Me too mate, but tomorrow's another day. A couple of days ago, everyone was getting excited about the takeover, but today was more about the new boss. The board was at fever pitch pitch by lunchtime and flat on the floor by tea-time, and the team must have been too, going by that performance. It's still an exciting time because we don't really know what's gonna happen next. The takeover still seems very much on, so plenty to look forward to.
Nee odds on skybet anymore. You'd think they would have had an alternative market up with others listed on there.
My thoughts on why Poyet didn't take the job is that he's come here, given the club a figure for what he'd need to change the squad, they've turned around and said "that's too much", and knowing he'll not get promoted with this bunch, he's pulled out.
It’s been a strange day. Reminds of when I was younger as we were trying to sign Alex Sabella. I spent all day in and out of the house listening to the radio for news its really strange this. I thought, at first, he was a mag plant winding us up, but tonight it was clear he was goading our current owners.
There some cracking videos of cowley on YouTube talking about tactics and reconnecting clubs and fans, Aldo some of his training sessions. Comes across great.
Bodes well then with these billionaire owners not being able to build a squad for a good manager to get us out the league.
you just couldnt make all this **** up...Most clubs have a bad spell, new owners come in after a couple of months of rumours, appoint new manager/coach,then settle things for next window. Our takeover rumbles on for 18 months, ends up with 2 different parties in pole position at 2 different times, a bankrupt zz top lookalike keeps doing tweets and now tv interviews stating he is still in the running and has best deal on the table. We get a decent coup with a well known manager to verbally agree a 3.5 year deal, then suddenly he jumps ship same day as news seemed to break...Only at the mess that is Sunderland afc.
Still good to have an insight of what they’re about. The video of where they talk through how Lincoln beat Burnley is class, take you through their game plan, couldn’t imagine Parkinson thinking they way these do
I remember reading an article once about the difference between management here and management in Italy. Here, a manager gets the sack once and he's tainted. Clubs and fans are wary and write him off as useless. In Italy, that doesn't happen and managers can be sacked numerous times and it has little impact on their job prospects because, there, people recognise that conditions are different at clubs and people work differently under different circumstances.
