Howes call v Everton was an experienced player who has very regularly played at LB and did extremely well albeit at left cb v Man City and Man Utd and wasn’t called useless then v a very inexperienced young lad with virtually no first team experience from a struggling under 21 team who also mainly plays CB now. Dummett made a blunder as any player can but Howe isn’t to blame for that and made the correct call at the time. If he’d put Murphy on and he had blundered you would be on his back for throwing the lad into the fire. I. e with you Howe couldn’t win. 3. He actually factually couldn’t buy Phillips so did want him on loan. It’s not speculation it’s fact. As is the fact we were struggling with midfield injuries. If I said he had no interest in signing him full time at the end of the loan that would be speculation as was your speculation that he would have bought him in January if we had the money. I'll try again You said he only wanted Phillips on loan because.. that is an assumption... there could be a multitude of reasons Howe wanted him in anyway shape or form.
