I didn’t know, but I instantly believe everything you say, so it must be true. But presumably they didn’t want to move to Spain either?
Don't know I'm afraid. It was phrased something like "they weren't going to traipse around Europe after him".
Interested in your take on the situation though Vin (I see you voted to keep him in the poll).
I've not posted for a while because I know how I'll sound but you did ask and I respect you much to ignore you...
A word on loyalty.
I value loyalty and I believe it generally pays off. If we dump MP I predict more of the same in March with "fans" baying for the new manager's blood as he, in turn, struggles to settle in. Then probably the same next December. Anyone hoping that a new signing or two in January will make a difference is barmy. Players are overpriced (so we tend not to do major business) and, contrary to foolish expectations, players take time to settle.
The board should have stood up to the fans last season, as blackmailers
never just make one demand. We seem to have discovered a deep seam of nastiness in our support that I didn't know was there. Unsatisfied with the collapse from top six to top ten they demand perfection in every respect at all times. Getting on the back of the team can never be anything but counterproductive. The jeers at Fraser when he catches the ball are shocking. No wonder his confidence looks shot. Booing, yes booing, Nathan when he runs onto the pitch is disgraceful.
To be honest, if a top ten finish and cup final results in sacking for Puel, we're doomed to be on the merry-go-round of managers forever like every other club in this miserable, tawdry, corrupt, defiled, money-grabbing league. Over half of the managers have been in post for under two years. No-one, literally no-one, would run a business like that: why should football be any different? I thought we might be reasonable and show a bit of loyalty but it's a forlorn hope.
Look at Dyche. He's been loyal, his club's been loyal. They deserve each other and anyone (plenty on this and other threads and on Everton threads and West Ham threads) who tries to pry them apart deserves a good, hard poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
I'll be very surprised if Onionman Jr and I renew next season. I'm just not enjoying the games. About 5% of that is the football. 95% is the fans. They are the ones who make me dread going into the ground, not the players or the manager. I can live with **** football; I grew up watching Sheffield United in their darkest, bleakest days as they collapsed through division after division. I can't bear disloyalty.
Sorry if this sounds a little bitter but that's because I'm feeling pretty damned bitter. **** everyone and everything.
