Poor Nigel. He was successful before he joined us.....we must have taken his last bit of talent and luck.
I’m not touting him for the Saints job as it would never happen. But to suggest he isn’t a good manager/Pellegrino is superior, is bonkers.
I thought he said that he wouldn't want him at Saints if the rumours re Costa were true? Not sure it matters much really tbh.
Meanwhile, back on planet earth ... I agree with Fran. I think he'll stay and there will be lots of toy-free prams. We've found out that quick changes don't work. The theory proposed somewhere that the toxicity of the Koeman days is yet to be fully expunged is interesting. The logic seemed to be that, despite playing anyone who was potty trained, Puel didn't "engage" with the academy and that what we needed was a Mr Nice Guy which we now certainly have. I will always think it was a crap decision, but sticking with MP2 seems the only sane option.
Apologies if anyone posted this: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/southampton-ready-sack-mauricio-pellegrino-12132489
"Older manager who doesn't want the grind of a full season, but is available for the last 3-4 months of the year" should really be a thing. Then you can hire a replacement for a terrible manager without feeling tied to the replacement beyond season's end. Like retired teachers who still substitute here and there. Well, I guess it's already a thing because Guus Hiddink exists, but there should be more Guus Hiddinks. Hell, let's just hire Guus Hiddink.

I feel I would remiss if I didn't mention that his name is an anagram for I, Groin, Impure Locale. Which never really capitalized on the success of I, Claudius.
