Nick Thompson was just about right with his view. "I don’t think any of us are particularly welcoming of change. Change is a difficult subject and it is painful because it takes us out of our comfort zone and the things we have known for years. When you are dealing with something that is as emotionally sensitive as the football club you have supported for years, it hurts. As I said earlier though, I have always been focused on customer insight. When you segment the supporters, there are three large groupings. The first is called the “entranced.” For them the club is everything. For them, the high point of their relationship with the club was standing outside Boothferry Park with buckets collecting money to keep the club from going out of business. At that stage the Chairman knew all the fans by name and there was a co-dependency in the relationship. Any improvement, such as promotion to the Premier League will not be as good for these fans as when there was that co-dependency. The group constitutes about 5% of the fanbase and many of them don’t come to matches any more. But they are the fans who believe they are the heart and soul of the club and are very vocal. The second group is the hooked, who are your season ticket holders and buy shirts and scarves. They have a great love for the club. Essentially they are the heartbeat of the club and they just want what is good for Hull. When we talk to them, they are quite relaxed about the Hull City Tigers but they are not as vocal as the entranced. They are the silent minority. At the other end you have the attached, people who come for a couple of games a season. They are potential season ticket supporters, but for now, they come along for the excitement. The honest reality is that they don’t care what we call ourselves." CTWD, The Tigers Co op, HCOSC are in reality all reflective of the above statement. The OCS, who's poll had only 10% of members voting. Tigers co op, the founders of the CTWD group who have how long to buy shares in the club? What links with the club do they have? If this forum asked the questions. Are you a season pass holder Are you a long term supporter but do not attend games Are you a long term supporter who attends now and again. The results would be roughly the same as all other polls. So if the name change goes ahead, how much will the club lose in terms of season ticket sales? They think between 5 and 10 percent. Unless that figure dramatically changed why does the club as a business need to listen to the supporters? Now if 10,000 said that they cared enough not to buy a season pass, the name change would stop instantly. I find it odd that anyone who is against the name change, would still go to matches if we are Hull Tigers yet they try to make something out of the OSCs position of being none supportive of the name change but will not protest against it.
No it doesn't, it just shows they haven't joined the OSC or CTWD. I thought you had some modicum of intelligence.
Sorry, mate, but what a load of compartmentalized waffle. That's nothing more than Nick Thompson's vacuous rationale for not having the balls to speak his mind and openly oppose his crazy boss.
Don't worry, I didn't make that mistake with you. Why haven't they joined you then? Like Mel says, if you had 10k+ members, you'd have a solid platform on which to claim you're representing a sizable chunk, as it is, you do not.
As always it is hard to judge which is the majority view of the not bothered and the "over our dead bodies", the not bothered group is the interesting one as they obviously go week in, week out to the KC and other grounds and give the club however much through ticket sales/merchandise and yet the campaign against the name change or for the name change hasn't got their support - so the question is why are probably the largest grouping of the club's fans not bothered about "history and tradition" or "securing new investment from the Far East - and Allam will have a business plan showing that the name change will bring the club more money from overseas. And if you say well he should show it to CWTD and other fans - well there is something called business confidentiality, which is brought up everytime a company doesn't want to reveal something in case it benefits their rivals)
Not yet, I believe it was done in August, but the announcement is probably being held back so AA can claim it was down to the name change.
I really think there is some grasping at straws by some anti-name changers. According to the gospel of the CTWD, We have a new sponsor for our shirts (deal signed last summer) but it can't be announced until the name is changed due to Allam wanting to claim it is due the name change. The FA will not allow the name to be changed due to tradition and history. That Allam didn't realise until it was pointed out to him part way through the season that he needed the FA's permission to change the name. Point 1 does not correlate with Point 2 and 3 jointly.
CTWD have never mentioned anything about our new kit sponsor, I've just been told of a deal that was done in August, which may, or may not, turn out to be bollocks. We don't know which way the FA council will vote, we're just trying to influence them to do the right thing. AA thinks our name us Hull City Tigers, as he thought by changing the company name, he'd also changed the playing name, he was obviously wrong. If there's anything you don't understand, let me know and I'll try and clear it up fo you.
Yes there was much thumping of chests on the various boards about no NDA. We wouldnt go if there was one uff uff uff. But the minutes of the meeting are still not being divulged. Why?
Well if the answers 7 or Pickles then its been answered. But no its a bit sensitive isnt good enough an answer for me. You are happy to quote Mr Allam told you at the meeting he wants fan ownership but some of us would like to see the full content and draw our own conclusions.
You've already drawn your own conclusions, I don't expect the release of the minutes woud have any bearing at all on your opinion, you'd just read into them whatever suited your preconception, as has been the case with all the other minutes we've released.
Absolute rubbish and you know it. You have a moral obligation to release the minutes of the meeting. Family history taken out obviously.
Half of the time at the meeting was taken up discussing the financial situation at the club, intertwined in that was his families position on their involvement, take that out and half your minutes are gone and all the most important stuff we discussed is missing, that's why they weren't released.
OLM darling, Don't worry I do understand more things than you and other posters may assume that I Know. IF the sponsorship deal was done in the summer, which at that point in time Mr Allam was under the impression (as you and your fellow disciples keep telling this whole board) that he could change the name without any FA consultation then it is fair to assume that such a contract was drawn up with the name of the club being Hull Tigers. Now that may be the reason why the new name has not been revealed yet - as said new sponsor would maybe want to renegotiate the contract if the name is different - ie a large Chinese company may be willing to give us X million if we are the Hull Tigers, whereas if we are Hull City AFC give us X-Y million (that is assuming the location of the new sponsor due to the name). But to try and claim that any sponsorship deal (as you did OLM, not neccessarily saying it is the whole CTWD campaign) would be announced as a PR coup for Allam's name change is pushing it due to us not knowing at this moment in time whether it is say Tiger Beer/Siemens/AN Other
