I have said on here many time that being Egyptian he will not back down, as he feels that he will lose face. I said from the beginning that lobbying the FA was the best way forward, and it seems to be the case now that they will make the final decision. Strikes me that probably AA's best exit from this, he probably feels it is a loss cause now, and has been taken out of his hands, and the FA as we all expect will throw out the request for a name change, then at least AA can feel, that he has not backed down and lost face.
I thought the CTWD group want a place on the board , with Mr Allam giving them the club in the end . which equals Assem Allam out.
I'd always thought that the name change saga was actually a brilliant marketing strategy. It's achieved two things. Firstly, a lot of free publicity for the club. Secondly it's got the supporters more passionate about the club. The atmosphere at the KC has improved significantly this season. Allam and the management team run with this as long as they can before either being stymied by the league/FA or announcing that "they have heard the voice of the supporters" and cancelled their plans. Don't misunderstand, I am totally against the name change. I just happen to think the strategy is clever.
AA told us he was very much in favour of fan ownership and asked us to come up with a proposal which we are currently doing. It would be a minority shareholding with a place on the board, but it's entirely at his discretion and it's not being set up to get rid of him. Nothing that CTWD have put out has ever suggested that we want him to leave.
If the FA don't stop him, he will change the name, I wish there was a strategy as you've suggested, but there definitely isn't.
I don't think it has been a deliberate strategy, but I have to agree the atmosphere at the KC has improved since this has been going on. I agree with you, even if privately now feels that in the end maybe it is not the right thing to do, he won't lose face and back down.
He lives in this country, he owns a club within this country's culture and he cannot expect to be treated outside of what is considered fair, decent and reasonable. We make an exception for him and the next owner is worse - what then, John? I think many are putting a great deal of faith in the FA to resolve this; I hope they are right.
And with all due respect, Oregon, it is people like you who have stopped the campaign progressing even further. You keep offering opinions without having even brought yourself up-to-date with what is happening (or what has happened)
I personally feel on the whole he has been great for the club, and I have no axe to grind with the way things are going. Just having done business with Egyptians for 30 years, they are very nice people, but they just hate to lose face.
Where exactly do you get that from, Filey? AA has said, publicly, that he would welcome some degree of opening the share ownership. Nowhere has he (or CTWD that I have seen) said anything about him "giving them the club in the end".
I don't disrespect or disregard the role he has played and continues to play in the progression of Hull City AFC; nor do I have any problem that he wishes to run it as a business and he will, eventually, benefit from his ownership. I do have a problem with him wishing to change the name of the football team to Hull Tigers for no other reason than as a barb in his spat with Hull City Council; I have a problem with him not telling the truth about his intentions and the reasoning behind them; I also have a problem with him insulting the historic name of the club and all of those people who have strived to build it, make it successful and supported it through all manner of circumstances. The fact that he is Egyptian and, apparently, has an in-bred stubbornness and arrogance that leads him to believe he can talk to folk in any way he choses, simply makes me laugh and believe that he should do-one as the saying goes - the graveyards are full of indispensable Egyptians.
No he hasn't. He's dismissed you as irrelevant. You're the ones making it into a him v you thing, indirectly of course, and denying it. He couldn't give 2 ****s about CTWD, why would he? I don't care if you deny it tbh, but CTWD is attracting those types of "fans". Not reached 2k yet then? Hardly overwhelming support, considering it was being run over huge watershed type incidents, media coverage etc etc. If he says nothing more for you to twist or blow out of proportion, you've peaked and are clearly a minority group. Did you ever have a target you'd be happy to disclose?
I fully agree with you, that is what I also find unacceptable, that someone can dismiss the fans as if they do not matter.
Hard to see, but it seems we have another new badge It's not our real badge, but then it's not 'Hull City Tigers' either. This one has 'only' had the 'AFC' part removed. Why?
