ALLAM DEMANDS FOOTBALL FORUMS BE SHUT DOWN by Delboy Facey Hull City owner Assam Allam has called on the FA to close down any internet-based forums which oppose his boyhood dream of re-naming Hull City AFC. In an honest and frank interview with Tigerfeet, Mr Allam slammed sites such as not 606, CI & Happy Clappy as being "a hotbed of thuggery and hooliganism". He added "These people are not fans, they are members of the community and I have no time for them. Look at my CV and tell me if I've ever told fibs? I told you that my buying of Hull Tigers was a debt to the City of Hull and I stand by my words. Who wants to support a team with history? I don't care what they say and nobody has the right to oppose me. I am in charge and everybody else, the city, the council and the fans can all leave. In fact I'll have Ehab lay on coaches and they can all go to Leeds or Hell." The journalist has since been found in a black bin bag in the Humber.
after the name change it will be interesting to see how many of you have the courage to stand by your convictions, and boycott the games and just how many of you will be scabs.
I just heard that. Described Jelavic as a panic buy, doesn't think he'll do much for us. They all seemed to be in agreement.
Thanks for the response mate. I totally understand your view about the potential tangible benefits of the change. It appears to be nothing more than Allam's 'gut feel' that's driven this entire issue. Someone having the temerity to actually back up that gut feel, with some tangible evidence that supports it, has seemingly put his back up. All I can say is that he's either a very lucky man, or he runs his core business with a different attitude, as people who with that level of intransigence rarely achieve long term success in business.
Suggest you count up on here how many are saying they will never go to watch again, deduct it from the size of the crowd for the next home game (after allowing for opposition supporters) and that will give you a fair indication of the effect the name change will actually have.
If the bank loan you money to buy a new car its not a gift its a loan Thats all AA has done, loan the club money and charge interest. Until he writes off the loan or at very least doesn't charge interest you cant class it as a gift. All the people that gave me a gift for Christmas don't charge me interest.
I don't care where we end up (leaguewise) or what we are called, as long as I have a local team to support. the good thing about living in Hull is that it is one of the cheapest cities to live in, so no danger of us doing a Wimbledon.
It was Assem Allam's statement, it is Assem Allam's problem. We are sitting 10th in the Premier League with no real debt apart from up to £100 million owed to Allamhouse. If the FA says no and he sells the club we will have some great players and a great manager. We have a ground that could be developed with the correct approach to Hull City Council we would be an attractive opportunity. If someboby came in with more money than Assem Allam and took us into Europe Assem Allam will be as quickly forgotten as Nick Barmby. Part of our history reported in yesterday's papers. The only question to be settled would be how much of Allamhouse's debt would be written off and that would depend on how quickly he wanted to get out.
There will be a near capacity crowd for every home game this season irrespective of the name of the club. Apart from those who vehemently oppose the change, most are not that bothered, they are more interested in who we sign. I reckon 25 on here who seem to have collected about 5,000 "anti name change" signatures, although that figure does not seem to be reflected in the attendance figures at the ground. A bigger problem is differentiating between "anti name change" people and "anti Allam" people. There is some overlap, but my personal opinion is that some have an agenda. No doubt I will be roundly abused for this view, but you can judge for yourself how accurate it is. If you are actually bothered.
my ISA is 5%, you should shop around. mine was with Alliance And Leicester, but Santander took them over.
You believe that Allam doesn't give a toss about the fans, quite an anti-Allam statement in itself. Yet you offer him your arse on a daily basis. Do you have no self respect?
That's a rather rosey version of what could transpire should Allam wish to take his ball home fella. If he sold the club he's selling a 'franchise' that doesn't own it's own ground, isn't yet a settled PL side & he'd have debts of £100m to account for before he received a penny in essence. Given that we've been trying to sell our club for £125m with debts of circa £45m for years, I wouldn't fancy his chances of getting his cash back. So what alternative does that leave him? He simply does what Gaydamak did & sells all the intangible assets (players) & trousers the Sky bounty in the summer. Clears the lions share of the debt & leaves the football club to go into administration...... You can't pretend that the football club is somehow immune from his threatened actions imo.
