I don't think any of those issues affect anyone on game day. Once the whistle goes your focus - especially as a professional - will be on the game. Even as an amateur running around with mates, if I'm having a ****ty day or a tough time at uni or whatever, as soon as the whistle goes I'm not thinking about anything else.

You would like to think that but in reality, things do affect players......

In my opinion Bentley would be the perfect signing. Granted I haven't seen too much of him but he's been earning raving reviews and he's very young. I'd much rather see someone come in who wants to play in the big time than a Given.

Clear favourites to sign these two players.... Daniel Bentley 6/4, Andy Gray 2/1.

When does Captain Birdseye return from his cruise to give the go ahead?

Apparently Thursday, although I can imagine Brucey will be lining stuff up now so that if they green light it, we can tie up deals pretty quickly.

The strange thing for me is that SB could get the go ahead over the phone, why does there have to be a sit down meeting? If the Allams want a promotion push and some good players, why are they apparently making SB wait until Thursday and not letting him crack on? Call it a massive understatement, but something doesn't feel right here.

i would suggest that it will be Ehab (away with poppa) that will sort out the details of the contract and meet with the player to sort it

totally agree, but suspect the timing of the name change decision had a lot to do with them running off to sea, let things calm down, only my suspicion though

But this is the worrying thing, no other manager in the football league is waiting to dis, lets hope we do have some money to spendcuss budgets, every other club did it back in May.
yes 16 days before we kick off the season and still waiting to find out how much you have to spend other managers will have had a couple of months. With five or six players needed they are not going to have much time to gel together

And it was them who decided to do it. They put the name change crusade above everything else. It didn't matter to them if it interfered with the summer transfer window, the main thing was proving a point and showing he never backs down. Everything else was put on hold.

I'm not too worried about the whole gelling thing, our friendlies are all against ****e lower league teams anyway (aside from the two foreign ones) so it's not like they'll be tested. Most of the signings will be British so shouldn't need to much in the way of adaptation.

I am not so sure that most of them will be British Bruce has a record or signing foreign players, i think we will see a lot more of the likes of Luer and co in these friendly's.

True lets hope for some decent news Thursday which would give everyone a lift I think we all expect at least a couple more to go and i know SB has had to wait until he knows who is leaving for definite but hopefully things will get moving very soon. Thats one problem when you come out of the premier league waiting for other premier clubs to pick up your best players before you know were to strenghen. Many of our competitors haven't got that problem. Having said that I think we all know we need midfilders and are waiting on the others positions

Im hearing from somebody (who I really don't know that well) who claims he is in the know at Everton that Moyes wants Chester as a replacement for Stones who Everton have now reached an agreement with Chelsea over a move?
Anyone on here heard anything along these lines?

In our Championship promotion season, we signed Meyler, Brady, Aluko, Bruce, Quinn, Amos, Stockdale and Boyd. In fact in our first Pl season he signed Davies, McGregor, Graham, Huddlestone, Livermore, Harper and Long. I wouldn't say he has a record for signing foreign players more than any other manager.

ok maybe your right i was just thinking he seems to add a few foreign players usually unheard of .... like nafti pandiani palacios gedo zaki sagbo prozzy..... etc etc.... i just think we will get another one or 2 like that..........

We probably will, most clubs have at least one foreigner on their books. The benefit of a foreign player (if they come good) is that they're an unknown quantity. Most players good enough to play in the PL are well scouted and well known, whereas at this level there's a real randomness to it; it's why I think Gedo did so well initially.

A British spine with a few foreign players is standard these days, it's what I'm expecting from this window.
