SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin has confirmed the club have rejected an offer from Hull City for the Shrimpers highly-rated shot-stopper Daniel Bentley.
Tigers boss Steve Bruce was at Roots Hall to watch Bentley in action against West Ham United at Roots Hall on Saturday.
But Martin has turned down his offer for the 22-year-old, which Echosport understands was around the £1 million mark.
“Steve Bruce spoke to Phil Brown and Steve Kavanagh but we’ve said no to the offer,” said Martin.
The Shrimpers chief also confirmed that no other clubs have made an offer for Bentley and that the League One newcomers remain in contract talks with the goalkeeper.

Bentley, who came through the youth ranks at Roots Hall, has made 112 appearances for Blues and has 12 months left on his current contract at the club
Early days yet, they were bound to reject the first offer.Weird, I thought they were holding out for £1m? They obviously want to keep him, but I think this might piss him off if he wants to move.
