How do i view this? there's a large black side menu stretching over and blocking 3/4 of the screen that I can't shift.

Hull City are ready to offer £750,000 for Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

Manager Steve Bruce was at Roots Hall yesterday to watch the 22-year-old in action against West Ham.

Bentley is regarded as one of the best emerging keepers in the country and has been the subject of failed bids from West Ham, Watford and Leeds in recent months.

Bentley was mobbed at Wembley in May after his penalty save gained Southend promotion to League One

Southend have been holding out for £1m for the club's player of the year but Bentley is refusing to sign a new contract and has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman was also at Roots Hall, while Swansea sent a scout too but Bentley is keen on teaming up with Bruce once the clubs agree the fee.

Bentley saved the crucial penalty in Southend's League Two play-off final against Wycombe at Wembley in May, which handed the Essex club promotion to the third tier of English football.

Why would he be keen on teaming up with Bruce once a fee has been agreed? They wouldn't have been permitted to speak as a fee hasn't been agreed. It's probably bullshit - he's not foreign or **** enough for us.

It's common knowledge we need a new keeper and given Bruce's policy in our last Championship season, it's not much of a surprise he's a target. He's really highly rated, I suspect Bruce's reputation (whatever some think of him, he has a pretty high standing in the football community) has something to do with this.

He might not have spoken to the player, but he might've spoken to the agent. There was a story in May that he was happy to sit down and discuss a new contract with Southend, I'm guessing this was before all the interest from better teams.

I posted at the start of this window, that I honestly believe that all our transfer target's know that were interested in them and possibly already be sorted, I also think that tapping up goes on a massive scale through agent's, hence the remark " Bentley is keen to team up with Steve Bruce once the fee is agreed" no mention of personal terms, why maybe because they been sorted already.

I doubt we've lodged a bid, but I think he's obviously a target, even if we have a low budget we should still be able to afford him. He seems keen, we seem keen, I reckon this will be done by the end of the week.

certainly from that clip he looks to be a good shot stopper, anyone know what he is like with crosses ?, is he a puncher or catcher ?, is he vocal ?, one slight concern regarding the clips are those save he makes very few seem to stick, and he has a habit of palming shots down or out back into the danger area. But having said that Macgregor is probably the worst offender for doing that, and to judge the bloke from You tube clips would be unfair, just interested if anyone has seen him live a few times to give a general opinion

Probably a flapper, which is in keeping with our goalkeeper recruitment policy.

He's got a **** sleeve tattoo. But I'll oversee that on the basis that when he makes a save he doesn't push the ball into the feet of an opponent for a simple tap in like McGregor.

Yes, he does. In fact the only negative comments seem to be from fans of clubs he's actually managed.

You never know how their personal life affects a footballer. McGregor may have been having doubts about getting married. Livermore is supposed to have had problems. Davies could have had problems, too. If they come back with their issues cleared up they could come good again.

I don't think any of those issues affect anyone on game day. Once the whistle goes your focus - especially as a professional - will be on the game. Even as an amateur running around with mates, if I'm having a ****ty day or a tough time at uni or whatever, as soon as the whistle goes I'm not thinking about anything else.
