Don't bother. This is a serious subject and no place for your personal vendetta and need for attention with a bloated post that says nowt.
It was a blatant attempt to stir **** up that wasn't there. And yes, I'm a teacher, one of the main reasons for becoming one is to make sure kids don't grow up to be dickheads that make mountains out of molehills just to prove a point or to make themselves feel better. I don't think it was meant to be racist, PLT isn't a racist, if you read it as such then you clearly have some issues with race yourself. Either you're over sensitive or you've said something in the past you aren't proud of and are over compensating as a result.
It's one of the few things that links grass roots with the high chaperral of football. If a player took one for the team a tenner came out of my pocket, if he didn't we'd speak.
There are other options you haven't considered, which tbh doesn't surprise me. Suggest you do some research into casual racism and educate yourself. Until then I feel sorry for anyone being picked on in your classes, as by the looks, your response would be "toughen the hell up princess".
Ah, your normal last and very weak defence. Nothing personal, Happy Tiger; no more than you've given me. Now grow up and stop trying to be a clever **** - you only achieve 40%.
I agree with much of that, but it was a daft comment and should have been quickly accepted as such when pointed out by a decent cross-section of posters. The hesitation lets ****s like HT push his poison.
It was daft in a way because it's not true, race has no bearing on potential red cards. Yes, there are African players that get riled up; Taraabt, Drogba, Sagbo, Chamakh, Ben Arfa, but they aren't the only ones. What's annoyed me is that it was an observation, not a comment attacking people from Africa and people are up in arms about it.
Nobody gets picked on. I have a wonderful class that respect adults and their peers. They also show a bit more panache when dealing with sensitive issues (or not so sensitive ones) and approach such things with reason and subjectivity. They're also 8. Doesn't surprise you. You don't even know who I am, so I've no idea why you're trying to be so condescending. It won't work. You've taken something small and blown it up to try and make PLT to look like a **** because he was on the opposite side of your argument. You pick the bit of the debate that has nothing to do with the topic and blow it out of proportion to try and divert attention away from a conversation you weren't winning. And boy has it failed miserably.
It's how it is, unfortunately. Much has to do with your knowledge and respect for someone (limited on here, I know). It was a casually daft comment that had racist implications but probably not racist intent. I don't always agree with PLT's view on football, but is he a racist? No, not in my opinion, so why make a meal of the whole casual racist card? Maybe because he holds strong views in other areas? Surely not.
Agreed. Just because one is offended, does not make them right, nor does it validate their opinion any more than anybody elses. “It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ****ing what." - Stephen Fry
