But if they have no need to sell and don't want to sell him why would they accept less than 10M? There's nothing in it for them so i really don't see him going for anything under 10m, which is a lot of money and will nearly double our deficit for this season.

Maybe - but what Lewis is (correctly) saying is that what Blackburn paid for him is not particularly relevant to what other clubs will pay for him now. All that matters are (a) what other clubs will stump up and (b) what offer they would accept.

They paid £8m back when most clubs viewed him as a £4m prospect - now that it's paid off and his sensible market value IS now close to £8m, they can't necessarily expect to find someone who will pay way above that.

We are now 7/2 to sign Long, BUT, 5/2 to sign Jelavic on Sky Bet. Interesting that Jelavic has shortened so much, would be a great signing and a former teammate of Sone and MacGregor at Rangers.

Thats to bad I thought Djordjevic looked good.

So are we down to just the Long and Fletcher rumours for strikers?

Forget Fletcher. If he leaves Sunderland it will be down south to Spurs. imo.

But Shane Long and Nick Powell looks to be top of SB shopping list.

Got a strong feeling we are in for Rhodes.

Yes - but we will have to wait until the summer as things stand. It would not surprise me that Part of the Tom Cairney deal is first refusal on Rhodes when Blackburn decide to sell. :emoticon-0105-wink:

Wonder how much Ings is worth

As he is almost out of contract £2m down plus add ons imo.

Bruce on signing a striker: "We’ve got a couple of irons in the fire and, if they come off, then it would be fantastic"
City have been added to the market to sign defoe lol

As Defoe now belongs to MLS side Toronto he would now be classed as a foreign loan. No limit on the loans from abroad. The MLS does not start until saturday March 8th and Toronto dont start until the following saturday March 15th @ Seattle, so Hull City could well get 2 months at least out of Defoe. That should be long enough to win enough games to keep us 10th at least. imo. Can see this happening now. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Both Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour this morning think this could happen. Brucie is very much a tease. :emoticon-0105-wink:

at beginning of season I had us down for 11th.
10th would be even bettererer!

I can well see us finishing 9th with a good Jan window. Southampton have hit a wall now as we just get better.

9th place is worth almost £30m in PL prize money. More than covers all our PL buys for this season.

Not a chance in hell he will go for that. But add-ons could take it upto say £5m.

Look how they lost out on the sale of Charlie Austin by being greedy with us.

They don't want to sell him, he's probably about to get them promoted and anyone buying him is going to have to pay way over the odds to get him.

And they weren't greedy with Austin, he failed a medical, it was **** all to do with Burnley(he was coming to the end of his contract, had an ongoing injury and still went for £4m).

50/50 on Burnley and Ings being promoted imo.

Reports in Burnley have Sean Dyche wanting to sign Brighton striker Ashley Barnes(who is out of contract this summer) so who knows what will happen this month.

As for Austin, I bet we would have taken a chance on Austin if we had been quoted what Dqpr actually paid for him. imo.

Hull boss Steve Bruce has rubbished reports the Tigers have bid for Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher.

An offer of £8million had supposedly been tabled for the 26-year-old Scotland international, but that is nonsense, according to Bruce.

He told talkSPORT: ‘I woke up this morning and saw a story that we’d bid £8m [for Fletcher], I just thought, “Where on earth have they got that from?” I haven’t got a clue where it’s come from.’
