The guy simply has too much power at Arsenal and that's one main problems. Also for the first time in a while, we did not have the problem of trying to keep hold of our best players this summer, so we could really focused on trying to improve our team, yet we chose to dither about. The statement of intent was there to be made, and we blew it.
What players have we got left? The last of our top player left to go to Man U. Not saying we have bad players but none of them are good enough to get into any top European side, bar maybe Cazorla or Kos. We really needed to strengthen this summer but failed miserably, now we have to contend with Spurs buying player after player!
Someone at Arsenal needs to be monitoring the situation at Madrid closely. If Bale joins then one of their midfielders is going to to leave.
The only thing we'll sign from Real is the tea lady. She maybe 17 but she has tons of potential and makes a great cup of tea!
I'm having Wenger press conference flash-backs at this point, and it's not reassuring me at all. Paraphrasing, Wenger to the media "you say sign, sign, but who?" I'm really thinking that at this point we are no longer pursuing any long-term target which we had in mind since July, and all of the linked names from now on will be as a response to the "crisis".
If he was assured of getting business done by the end of the month, I don't see why he'd need to be so defensive. From today: "There is nothing to explain," Wenger said. "First of all, you don't know what we have done, you don't know if we did bid and you have come to a conclusion without knowing everything that has happened. "It is quite amazing that all of the people don't know and yet they always have opinions about things they don't know. "I won't explain to you what happened. It is not down to me to explain to you everything I do. It is impossible. "If we do a transfer, we will announce it. We always inform you. As for the rest, you have to leave us to do our own things. "We don't want to hurt anybody, not Newcastle, not anybody. You can't reproach us on one side for not buying and yet on the other side when we try to buy to reproach us as well. That is a bit contradictory. "I would just like to reiterate to you that in the last 16 years we have been very successful with transfers - if you look at the players who play tomorrow, they are top quality players, and you should never forget that." I hope that the Cabaye bid had more thought behind it than as a response to the reproach and criticism...
What worries me most is that there could be damage done that takes years to put right. I know there's always plenty of bandwagon jumping at times like this but I've been reading today about the youth set up being in the worst state since the academy was formed (7-0 loss to Luton, 5-1 to Colchester), some coaches lasting 6 weeks then walking away because of the problems that exist, a clique amongst senior academy boys, kids parents holding huge power. So with the weakest first team squad in many years (though mindful there are a couple of weeks left for things to improve) and it seems plenty of issues in the one area the club has pinned its future on. Dramatic possibly, but a concern nonetheless...
Was wondering where my harem disappeared to a few nights ago, looks like me and arsene have the same taste.
Well Arsene , you are certainly correct in saying that we dont know what you have done . But we ALL know what you havent done . That is clear for the world to see.
