we've lost the first game, the club is as close to crisis as I can remember, but still there are no decent transfer rumours

 

The journo's have ran out of players to link us to.

 

I can honestly remember worse.

 

Watched Lyon Real Sociedad earlier and liked the look of Gonalons. Not that he looks an exceptional player or anything, but he is a proper captain. He would provide us with some much-required steel. I doubt Agbonlahor would have strolled through the middle against us if he'd been there protecting the back 4.

Arsenal could be set to rival Tottenham for the signature of Roma’s Erik Lamela.

The Italians are prepared to listen to offers for the £30million-rated forward, and Roma’s director of football, Walter Sabatini, jetted into London yesterday for talks with Spurs over a potential deal.

However, Italian reports claim Arsenal also made enquiries into the 21-year-old’s availability and could be prepared to go head-to-head with their North London neighbours.

Roma are keen to shift either Lamela or Miralem Pjanic off their wage bill this summer, however it’s likely Spurs would hold the key in any negotiations due to Franco Baldini’s strong relationship with the Serie A side.

Arsenal, though, are desperate to recruit, and should Spurs decide to focus on landing Willian from Anzhi, that could leave the door open for Arsene Wenger to pounce on the highly-rated Lamela.

Looks like a name pulled out of a hat job. £30m and Arsenal do not go hand-in-hand. With our great negotiators v Spurs', I think i know who will win this contest.....But seriously, do we really need another playmaker?

I remember reading some journalists saying that we were never interested in Bernard.I suspose it depends which paper you read and who you choose to believe

 

Unless Arsenal come out and deny this rumour, we will have to believe their clubs president. Something tells me Arsenal were, but the price tag put them off.

 

I doubt very much if someone at the club will comment on a rumour in a newspaper.

 

Even if it's a direct quote from a President of said club? Either way it's a mute point as he's been signed by someone else.

I'd take him at his word. As usual, Arsenal dithered & lost out.
