I love Sunderland but Aston Villa are a bigger football club. It’s a poor comparison imo.

Similar histories. They’ve had more in recent memory but there isn’t a massive gap between us.

Similar crowds, similar trophy count, both had disasterous periods.

We are in the group with them, Leeds, West Ham. That kinda big club.

I mean **** me City were in the 3rd tier 20 year ago (I know the doors shut on that route now)

I refuse to accept that Villa are out of our league and potential level.

Aye, but I genuinely think we have a far higher ceiling and are in many way potentially more ‘appealing’ if we reach a level.

The fan base and the Netflix etc is great. If we’d have had that documentary 5 years earlier, who knows.

We are similar size to Villa. They are in the CL this season. They took a step back, as have we.

Very tough road I agree but it’s not impossible. We are a huge club.

Every week the national sides post about our away following, or the home gate or whatever. We are visible.

I agree with all of that mate and would love to see us have at least one season in the sun. It's becoming harder, as Newcastle are finding out, all that money and they're not even good to watch.

I think location becomes the killer. It's why on a like for like choice we are likely to lose out to NW, Birmingham and London clubs of similar historical significance.

Villa historically are right up there statistically as one of the biggest , I’m not sure some of our support realise just how big we were/potentially still are mind.
