Fairly sure the centre-forward terminology stems from the old 4-3-3 in the 80's and 90's.

The switch to 4-4-2 in the Premier League era saw the wider use of striker.

That's what it seems like to me.
Wing backs and fluid 3-5 at the back was the big change. This then lead to variation on midfield patters and then the 4-5-1 which becomes a 4-3-3
???
Traditional numbering is derived from the Victorian 235 formation. The numbers got moved around a bit following the shift to WM and then again when teams started using a flat back four (whether that was 442 or 433) from about the 60s onwards.

The terms Centre Forward and Striker are used interchangeably s both are the plauer furthest up the pitch, but if you make a distinction a Centre Forward is generally the type of player to hold the ball up (but not necessarily a goal scorer) and a Striker is more of goalscorer.

Promotion to the premier league for me has become about banking the parachute payments and not doing anything to **** up the long term of the club. Securing safety would be a bonus :D
I’d rather survive and build, **** being a yo-yo club

Anyway, hopefully this is a discussion we’re having in 8 months time. Means nothing now.

Gradually

That first season back is always about survival.

Aye,but survival can be expressed in different ways. When we go up,we need a team to compete in mid-table,not scrapping away at the bottom, hoping another team is worse.

It's all very well copping the TV money but it's almost all spent on new players and ludicrous wages.

that’s why I think what Ipswich are doing is super smart.

Either they stay up and get another £150m to spend how they want, or they go down and have a ready made top championship side without needing to sell.
