but if we use the usual definition of CF which is a striker but not quite a out and out 9, that would be the type we use, one who comes back to link up and carry the ball where i'd like to say a proper definition of a striker would be a 9 that is always up the top end and gets onto the end of things
Exactly, some of the football we've enjoyed, so far, is better than an entire season of beating the minimum points total in the PL.
Fairly sure the centre-forward terminology stems from the old 4-3-3 in the 80's and 90's. The switch to 4-4-2 in the Premier League era saw the wider use of striker. That's what it seems like to me.
Wing backs and fluid 3-5 at the back was the big change. This then lead to variation on midfield patters and then the 4-5-1 which becomes a 4-3-3
Couldn't agree more! I'm dreading going back to those days when we were getting stuffed every week. No enjoyment in that for me. I had so much fun watching the matches when we had Amad under Mogga...I've enjoyed our last two home matches just as much. I'd much rather look forward to our season than if I was a fan of Ipswich,Everton or Leicester.
