And our fanbase is unlikely to be forgiving of a season that ultimately ends in relegation. The ambition whores would be foaming.
???
Traditional numbering is derived from the Victorian 235 formation. The numbers got moved around a bit following the shift to WM and then again when teams started using a flat back four (whether that was 442 or 433) from about the 60s onwards.
The terms Centre Forward and Striker are used interchangeably s both are the plauer furthest up the pitch, but if you make a distinction a Centre Forward is generally the type of player to hold the ball up (but not necessarily a goal scorer) and a Striker is more of goalscorer.
Might be an interesting balance point for them if they do go down. I think all teams that relegated need to sell to some extent. The issue is finding players that others wish to buy. If the Ipswich squad gets pegged as a champ squad for next year, they may struggle to find willing buyers for the one or two they'll need to shift. Mind, I thought Burnley might struggle to find desirable players and they seem to have shifted a few fairly well.that’s why I think what Ipswich are doing is super smart.
Either they stay up and get another £150m to spend how they want, or they go down and have a ready made top championship side without needing to sell.
Teams do step up though. Leicester did, Villa.
We aren’t Bournemouth or whatever we COULD do something in the PL in time.
contract terminated i think

No idea if he is hinting at something or just rehashing other reports here
Totally agreeIt really isn’t just a number and it’s a hill I’ll die on. Psychology is everything and he was presented to the fans, the club and even himself as our new number 9. He should have been somebody who could have become it. Rather than it.
Certainly is. Obviously the orthodoxy by that stage was the WM but 235 survived for nearly half a century before anyone had a little think about it how mad it was.My grandad was an inside forward in the late 50's and 60's, played old second and third division. 2-3-5 is a mad formation when looked at with modern day eyes.
Aye,but survival can be expressed in different ways. When we go up,we need a team to compete in mid-table,not scrapping away at the bottom, hoping another team is worse.
think he’s just summarising as he’s not actually working today due to his paternity leave
Realistically ruling out the “big 6” then probably Villa, Newcastle and Brighton after them that would leave West Ham as the mid table bench marker. Expecting any newly promoted team to compete with a team like that over the course of a season is a huge ask.
I said when Leicester won the title they'd be relegated ...
... they lost their best players and ended up in a mess.
I do think we may well be sitting on a couple of done deals at this point, Aleksic in particular.I reckon admin is going to just be efficient today and do no stories during the day but then one piece at 11pm outlining all the comings and goings![]()
Ha’way mateAye, but I genuinely think we have a far higher ceiling and are in many way potentially more ‘appealing’ if we reach a level.
The fan base and the Netflix etc is great. If we’d have had that documentary 5 years earlier, who knows.
We are similar size to Villa. They are in the CL this season. They took a step back, as have we.
Very tough road I agree but it’s not impossible. We are a huge club.
Every week the national sides post about our away following, or the home gate or whatever. We are visible.
