Newcastle have spent billions and will spend billions more ... ... no decent trophy since 1955. That's why I like Man City winning everything, embarrassing for the PL.
My grandad was an inside forward in the late 50's and 60's, played old second and third division. 2-3-5 is a mad formation when looked at with modern day eyes.
Might be an interesting balance point for them if they do go down. I think all teams that relegated need to sell to some extent. The issue is finding players that others wish to buy. If the Ipswich squad gets pegged as a champ squad for next year, they may struggle to find willing buyers for the one or two they'll need to shift. Mind, I thought Burnley might struggle to find desirable players and they seem to have shifted a few fairly well.
I said when Leicester won the title they'd be relegated ... ... they lost their best players and ended up in a mess.
If that's right,an example of how we look after these players. Still only 24,he has a contract with us to 2026,so can now move to somewhere he's going to play, and build from there, without us requiring a fee.
Certainly is. Obviously the orthodoxy by that stage was the WM but 235 survived for nearly half a century before anyone had a little think about it how mad it was.
Realistically ruling out the “big 6” then probably Villa, Newcastle and Brighton after them that would leave West Ham as the mid table bench marker. Expecting any newly promoted team to compete with a team like that over the course of a season is a huge ask.
I reckon admin is going to just be efficient today and do no stories during the day but then one piece at 11pm outlining all the comings and goings
Aye, but I genuinely think we have a far higher ceiling and are in many way potentially more ‘appealing’ if we reach a level. The fan base and the Netflix etc is great. If we’d have had that documentary 5 years earlier, who knows. We are similar size to Villa. They are in the CL this season. They took a step back, as have we. Very tough road I agree but it’s not impossible. We are a huge club. Every week the national sides post about our away following, or the home gate or whatever. We are visible.
Ha’way mate I love Sunderland but Aston Villa are a bigger football club. It’s a poor comparison imo.
