yeh you’d think after the Beale fiasco, and the fact he was quickly sacked in an admission of the mistake, they wouldn’t repeat it like this
I don’t trust them whatsoever this is why I’m convinced it’s happening @Scout73 has said he’s spoken to someone with contacts at st mirren and they’ve heard nowt so hopefully this is the real truth
I’m sure it won’t come to that mate, but I’d find it a real struggle to back KLD if this is what we were served up. Like I say tho, I really don’t think they’d even think about it…
I still think it’s very unlikely. But after spending some time researching him rather than just looking on Wikipedia, this Stephen Robinson doesn’t seem as bad a shout as I thought this morning. Massively over performed at St Mirren despite the low win percentage. And plays a style of football we would enjoy. But he would 100% result in the same reaction as Beale and for that reason it absolutely cannot happen. I’m still holding out for Maric
This is it mate. It doesn’t matter how good they think he can be, they can’t afford to take that sort of gamble. They have 0 credit in the bank and need to make some attempt to get everyone back onside with this appointment.
They do mate, which is why I think they wouldn’t dare do the same thing again. If they did, well they would get the reaction they deserve.
Regarding Robinson - usually when accurate names leak from one media source, the other media sources jump on to tell their side. Like how the athletic then sky quickly followed each other re: Still on Friday night. it’s telling that not a single other media source has followed up Nixon’s article
Stephen Robinson should be nowhere near our job. Nothing he does even comes close to fitting our squad. 5 at the back, low possession football. Look at the coaches we've been linked with, all of them have different preferred styles which makes no sense and is not the way you should be going about things when running the DoF model. We should be targeting coaches that play the style which suits us and our players, while keeping an eye on the current successful trends within the league which currently is possession heavy football, which is also the style that suits our current squad best. Their past history in terms of results doesn't matter all that much, it's all about how they would fit here. Look at Bayern going for Kompany for example, that isn't because they were so impressed with his promotion from the championship nor do they care about his relegation from the PL, they care about his play style and development of players. There's so many coaches out there that look to dominate the ball, have a history of developing young players and are realistic; Kim Hellberg (previously linked) Stephane Gilli Henrik Rydstrom (perhaps unrealistic, linked with Brighton) Robert Klauss Dave Challinor Eirik Horneland Ruben Selles Mike Williamson and so many others. There's an abundance of tactically interesting coaches and frankly I just want us to be fun to watch again. Even Still, despite his tactics not exactly being my personal preference, is at least interesting. Please don't go for a boring coach. Hull and Norwich have went for interesting appointments over more solid candidates and I like that. Sorry for the long winded post, just a bit sick of this search now and a bit tired of the types of appointments we seem to be going for recently and the names that are being linked.
Interestingly, the sporting director of Metz (who have just been relegated) has announced he’s starting work for Lens tomorrow. Some lens fans don’t seem impressed.
