We could always wait and see who we sell, and who we buy, then do any necessary panicking. Less tiring that way.
Or we can discuss comments from the owner and the narrative emerging that we're looking to sell 1-2 of our better players, and the implications of that on our transfer strategy in a thread centred around transfer discussion.
The problem with that theory of 5 or 6 squad players people mention is, that the like of Fleming, Doc, Woods, Longman, even Sinik, we’d be lucky to get decent money for any of them. Wages off the books, but I doubt 3 of them are on that much, that would make such a huge difference.
At least we know he’s learnt from his mistakes so far. But it’s all well and good doing all this amazing stuff off the pitch when all anyone really cares about is what happens on it at the end of the day. It does make me wonder how we aren’t actively pushing for the sale of Sinik though, considering he could bring a fee and at present he’s shown he’s absolutely not capable at this level. Instead 3 who’ve all shown it.
I would have thought that even if we're just getting the wages of guys like Sinik, Woods, Doc off the books as well as nominal fees in, that'd give us a bit of breathing room. Unless Oscar, Traore, Seri and Tufan are on wages so far ahead of everyone else.
I'd actually be happy to see us selling Ally too.. I said last season but I just don't see enough from him to convince me that he's got what it takes. If there's genuine interest in him and Sinik surely we look to sell them over players in Oscar and Greaves who actually have a huge impact on our game.
Who says we aren't? The owner talking him up means nothing, it just makes sense to talk up any player.
I think it's true that Allahyar has had a limited impact in his season and a half here, but people forget or ignore that he's only very young. Being a regular starter at his age, if not always spectacular, does bode well for being able to become a top player at this level soon.
Oh I have no doubt he could become quite good, I just think if we're aiming to achieve something this season or next we need players here who are having an impact now. It's fine having young developing players when they're on peanuts or cost us nothing, like Vaughn and others, but when they're on a reasonable wage and would command a good fee like Ally and Sinik and would allow us to keep Oscar and Greaves, sometimes you make tough calls.
True, him and Tufan are my first choice for people on good wages. Tufan is great I just can’t see him as more than an impact sub when everyone is fit. And £30k a week shouldn’t be on the bench… Sinik I just don’t think is good enough.
Not really sure we've seen a fully fit and settled Sinik to definitively judge just yet. I can't imagine.if an offer came in near his valuation we wouldn't consider it though. The club are saying they're bringing 2 in, we already have Ali and Longman so are we really likely to be going into the season with 5 wingers when we have others who can cover out wide also?
I worry that it's not a personnel thing and more a tactic/instruction thing that holds us back in the final 3rd. Pelkas/Sinik/Ally/Ebiowei have all struggled yet perhaps with the exception of Ally have all performed previously. Even the players that have done well its more sporadic than consistent.
