Figueiredo's already gone and I imagine Woods will be one we sell too, even though he's been alright in our first two pre-season games, as he's probably on 5 figures a week. Aside from Óscar and Greaves who have strong interest, I can see Longman going as well this summer. Solid pro but he's just not good enough, I'm afraid. Gives 100% every time he plays but he has one decent game every 5 or 6 games. Sinik might go too despite what Acun says.
Yep totally. Fleming will be another loan his wages will be too high for most League 1/2 clubs so will likely have to subsidised somewhat same with Doc. Woods & Longman may attract interest from lower end teams in the Championship. Sinik another loan abroad the most likely outcome.
Ipswich may have learned a lesson from their Paul Hurst experiment. You can't buy league 1 players and hope to survive in the championship, or maybe not....I'm not aware of George Hirst. I assume he's the son of the ex Massive FC striker. Many on UTube seem to think Ipswich will be dark horses...I'm, personally, not so sure on that.
If this is a fair reflection of our financial situation, and not transfer gamesmanship from the owner, you can only conclude that we have been poorly managed in such a fundamental area. Selling the squad players – fine. Selling Oscar/Ally for profit – (begrudgingly) fine too they are their signings from last season and it could be good business etc. But if bringing in Sinik, Tufan, Woods et al. leads to selling a prized a local asset in Greaves just a year later, for a fee that may well end up below comparable market value, is surely terrible business. Which would be compounded further if that money was then squandered on a Sinik type gamble. I’m a supporter of Acun and the board. But given the above, and the sale of another local asset in KLP for X millions already, concerns are fairly raised in reaction to Acun’s words in the article.
You read the bit where it says we are 'under no pressure to sell' didn't you? We like every other non parachute championship club have to sell to buy. There's no suggestion that last year's recruitment means we have to sell now to pay for it. In fact that's a really weird interpretation of the article.
If we get offered silly money from a Saudi club for Óscar we should break their hand off. The Saudi clubs have already shown their hand by paying enormous amounts on transfer fees and wages and the fact they aren't subject to UEFA's FFP rules gives clubs selling to Saudi an advantage. A club in Saudi could realistically offer something as daft as £20 million for Óscar and we'd be stupid not to accept that money.
Maybe it's as many as 5 or 6 because they would rather sell squad players instead of selling Oscar & Greaves? As in, it would take 5 or 6 squad players to get near the money that would be gained from selling Oscar & Greaves? That would fit also with Rosenior's comments about wanting to work with a smaller, tighter squad. Wonder also if the 5 or 6 include the already departed T Smith, Elder, Pelkas and Figs?
Of course, but unless he just unloads streams of consciousness to the media, he means: We are intending on selling Greaves/other prized assets to be able to buy players, such is the situation. Or We’re getting squeezed by selling clubs who see us as rich, so we’re redrawing perceptions of the club. Both could be partially true too.
