Never ever understood the whole the talks remain open and they remain at the table shtick.
Surely all that's left to do is for Brighton to suggest higher and higher numbers until one becomes acceptable.
What the **** are they talking about other than that?
I know nothing about the Watson situation but have the inside track on Jack Clarke, to an extent of course.
I worked for the Duke of Argyle, in Newton Stewart, who's an Ipswich supporter, close friend of the Cobbold family and ex-Eton whose football team was coached by Bobby Robson. He lives in Texas but still involved with Ipswich and we're in regular contact. He's the one who told me, and I posted, that negotiations are complicated but ongoing with a view to Clarke returning to Sunderland. All three parties, Sunderland, Ipswich and Clarke want it to happen but it depends on Kieran McKenna's assessment of his squad, the financial arrangement and Clarke's agreement. There's also the possibility that Sunderland will sign someone permanently or that Watson will leave. All of those things are like the plates of a Chinese juggler ... up in the air, fragile and likely to come crashing down at the last moment.
Sleep well everyone
