I would prefer Sorba as it is a perm deal and it looks like we are building ready for next season as well as survival this season, If barry deal means we don't get Sorba i would rather drop barry loan deal at least Sorba can get used to playing with the team and we still have next season.

I would hope we Get Thomas in summer regardless if everything is agreed with the player and it's just the Nantes loan that's scuppering it, as reported

Think there would be a lot more interest then in him plus Huddersfield may come back up and decide to keep him then, Not saying Sorba is better than Barry but if there is no option then we should really take Sorba unless they plan to go for both.

Time will tell. If Thomas is out of contract in summer he can sign a contract now to start then.

* Just seen he has another year there if Nantes don't trigger their option to buy.

Barry makes more sense to me. He's more of a goal threat, prefers playing on the left and I have some doubts over Sorbas attitude. I'd much prefer we use a loan as a stop gap and then reassess in the summer. I'm not against signing Thomas but it means we'd be going into next year with him, Kamara and Belloumi who are all much more effective on the right, whilst only Millar who is comfortable on the left.
He's also most likely going to be available for another loan in the summer. If he comes here and does a good job for the next few months, there's every chance we get him back.

Barry probably more exciting in the short term, with no chance of keeping him as Villa have Apparently negotiated a new deal prior to re loaning him out again. But Thomas would be a good solid signing going forward.

Lets face it, neither are a bad option.

Left back arguably more crucial than a winger at the moment? Macca can't continue to be our first or second choice there and Jacob, as well as he's played last few games, is a good back up, but maybe shouldn't be a first choice lb just yet

Seems to be the hope is it'll turn into an 18 month loan which wouldn't be bad.

Might suit his and our natural progression from top of league 1, championship relegation battle/mid table security then looking toward top 6 next year.

And by then maybe villa will decide to let him leave ala philogene
