I would use the word 'interesting' as opppsed to 'excting.' Next season will be a lower half of the table. Stability is more important than excitement in the next season. I will go for promotion in 26 /27 when we can all enjoy pipping Leeds to their return to the Premiership !

Well last time you did this we got promoted, so sorry if I don't subscribe to it, Ian!

Pep, Kompany, Arteta, Alonso off the top of my head

I agree in principle with you but I saw someone talking about this a while ago and his argument is what does a top player know about playing at say League 2 level? Everything about the club/players/fans/media is completely alien to someone who spent their entire career in the top flight.

If anything trying to coach players at that level would be way harder for an ex top player as they wouldn’t understand why the players can’t do what he’s asking of them because they aren’t talented enough
So a bit like us then

Apparently Wagner has been offered the chance to go back to Huddersfield, and Silva big chance of going to Saudi from Fulham. Cleverley sacked at Watford and Selles from Hull. Big manager merry go round this summer.
RVN expected to leave Leicester and McKenna not commital on last interview after Everton draw, when asked if he was the man to lead Ipswich’s promotion push next season.

Kompany is debatable I suppose. Obviously got Burnley promoted and had a disastrous season in the PL, but still got the Bayern job where I believe he’s doing well. Think he was at Anderlecht before but not completely sure off the top of my head.

You can look at it the other way as well,
are there many managers who are regularly successful in the lower leagues but never given opportunities higher up because of style of play/management? These guys might be more suited to lower league management and not have a clue how to manage top level players

I missed that about McKenna. What did he say?

Just dogged the question when asked about next season leading Ipswich in the championship.
I think that if he gets offered a premier league job, he will leave as there’s no guarantee Ipswich will come straight back up.

Think there will be a few clubs looking at new managers. Possibly Fulham, Palace, Spurs ??

What about Bournemouth ? I can see them being stripped bare before August.

I don't see the quote where he rules us out. The Saints job is a good opportunity for him to get to the PL.
He hasn’t ruled any club in or out, but it’s clear from his quotes that he feels he is ready for either a bundesliga or premier league job, and you would imagine that clubs from those divisions have probably sounded him out?

Think we are ruled out where he says he wants to work with Great players. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I'm not sure about that. Yes he wants to manage in the Bundesliga and/or PL at some point but it's a hell of a step up from Sheffield Wednesday to that level. He's clearly very ambitious but the Saints job would be the logical next step in his career. But we'll see.

Yeah, maybe he's just fishing a bit to see what's out there. Will Still is second favourite, which would be interesting too...
