From Selles… “We need to remember that we are playing a game that people love,” “Not only the fans watching the game, but the people playing it. “When you connect your way of doing things with a desire from the players to play football, you have a big advantage. “When you can find a way to do it that represents who you are as a person, what you are as a team and give an identity to the club, that is fantastic. “By the end of my first season with Reading, I think we showed a little bit of what we want to be.” Selles expanded on his coaching philosophy and the way he intends his teams to play. He continued: “My idea of football is always based in high-intensity moments, especially in defensive actions. We should be very dynamic and defend far away from the goal. Remember: we press to score goals. “In possession, we should be organised and arrive very quick into the final third. We want to be vertical. “We must be able to combine to arrive in the final third or, when it makes sense, break the lines with most combinative build-up. “The organisation in possession is very important. My team should be able to apply a high level of counter-pressure, to get a lot from transitions when we regain the ball. We love the ‘organised chaos’. I think we want to be vertical is his way of saying ‘Ger it forward!’
Yeah, Vinagre. The 23/24 year old whose development, like all the others, came on in leaps and bounds under Rosenior. Oh, hang on .... Doing ok at L Warsaw I think , in Europe and League. Odd that.
Is that because the really good players were here? Remember the reason most English players look good in the Prem is because they have about 8 or 9 foreign players around them - when they play as a group for England they look poorer . IMO
Chazz once wba went two goals up the game was a dead rubber. Why use that game to judge? What about the 3-3 draw with Ipswich where we repeatedly fought back against a top 2 side?
He's on a podcast called Not the Top 20, which is a great listen if you have a broader interest in the Championship.
I’d say we probably did have maybe half a dozen players over the course of last season that would be first choice if they were still here now but I would also argue that the squad overall was not as strong as the one we have now. As someone mentioned earlier, that was largely why we had to play quite a few players out of position, especially up until the January window. Don’t forget that Tufan wasn’t always a nailed on starter either, Twine was underwhelming and Connolly was injured/out of form for quite a long spell. There seems to be a bit of a case of people choosing to remember things a little differently to the reality at the time.
To summarise : Rosie got sacked for turning Kane down Tim doesn’t talk to the players at all so they don’t know what to do . Tim isn’t on Tik Tok or Facebook or X , so doesn’t see why he should talk to the press Tim hates the fans , they are a nuisance Tim is a bad tempered grumpy German Most of the players don’t like his style of football and are sulking It’s Trumps fault It’s Acuns fault for employing him as he fully expected to walk the Championship An unnamed person has coached the players to kick field goals Giles can’t be bothered Most of our fans want Tim to go and Acun to sell the club or give it free to someone We should appoint minimum a 70 year old plus manager because they know the Championship and relate to young modern players . Have I missed anything ?
To be honest, if Acun sells club, I'd be OK with it, he keeps tweeting about Fener-Gala duels like an hour ago, last time he tweeted about Hull was months ago, May 1st. I don't think there is a commitment towards us these days, even financially. Moreover his business is not doing well lately, all his program formats are in decline, he has been running exact same formats for years and people eventually got bored, most watched shows and even football games on his platform are no longer there, no need to mention decline of TV business in general for Turkey and making enemy out of Gala fans by attacking them day by day didn't help cause either, which is the largest fanbase in country amounts to 30 million. In addition to all of that and probably most important, his political support is dying.
We could have topped up with free signings and loans like last season when we supposedly 'backed' the manager more..? Otherwise what does the term 'backed' mean? If it's based on the quality of the signings then that's daft as every signing is obviously made with the intention of the player actually being good and having an impact. Walter was no less backed than LR and in fact was given a much larger pot of money for the quality of the signings.
That doesn't really address the point I made? I also don't think signing Philogene last season is any easier than signing Belloumi this season for roughly the same fee. Yet one is 'backing' the manager more than the other..??
