Boringly repetitive Anyone want to name their best team picked from players playing in the last two years?? Pandur Coyle jones greaves Seri Morton Philogene Tufan carvalho Delap Don’t ask me about a left back probably slater there the end
I don't even think there's a huge difference there either. We turn over loads of players every summer. Rosenior last year had to do the same nonsense Walter did this year of playing a totally half-baked squad through August until the rest of the squad came on deadline day. Ok this summer we signed 15 players or whatever it was, pretty sure it was over 10 the year before too. Less but not massively different. It's really not like Rosenior just added a couple of players here and there, it was a rebuild like it always is.
I think at the time transfermarkt had our overall squad value at 4th in the league. After January obviously.
Yes Chazz, it means we signed players who played better last season. That's got nothing to do with who was 'backed' more in the market. Walter was backed plenty.
The point was being made that Acun backed LR more than he backed Walter which is rubbish. We just made a mess of this window more than we did last summer. We spent more money this summer on more players but have ended up in a worse spot. That's on the manager and that's on the recruitment team. It's nothing to do with one manager being backed more or less than the other. Both were backed to the hilt.
Everyone is conveniently forgetting this. The squad that started against Norwich last season was totally different to the one that played at the end of the window. He had us 5th. We decided to throw in the chips and it’s lead us to here.
I think last summer was fairly standard by most championship window standards. Not all the players brought in were guaranteed starters in summer. Pretty much everyone we’ve brought in this year has been with the intent to become a starter.
That is rubbish. Both have been backed as much as possible, I do sympathise with Walter though as he was pretty much begging for players at one stage. Tactics deserve criticism but the players are letting him down at the minute. Each of the last 3 games, they’ve had more than enough to win them comfortably. That is a fact. Unfortunately, this is where the tactic criticism comes in, they’ve not capitalised and they’ve been sussed by the opposition or ****ed up leading to them being allowed to sit back and kill the game
The biggest mistake the club has made since Acun took over was pushing too much in January, with one of the strongest ever top 4s in the division. The chances of promotion were always slim.
Plus we could have done half the business and held our position. Considering we hardly played anyone but Carvallo and Omur of the January incomings - I wonder if Liam just wanted tweaks and an overly excited owner pushed the kitchen sink at him. To the detriment of cohesion.
We didn't back LR enough that summer. Missing out on Keinan Davis was a blow and we finished the window a couple of wingers short. Aiming for the Top 6 when your only right-winger is Lokilo is just laughable
Walter has plenty of talented players. The trouble is he doesn't know how to play them and insists on trying to re-invent the game. The players are obviously at odds with his 'new' style of play and its not working.
I dont care who got backed more or less After 14 games this season We are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference Weve spent 20 odd million this summer It needs ****ing sorting Pronto
We dodged a bullet with Davis. We should have gone all in for Moore after Delap got injured. Signed a solid left back as opposed to a wingback who didn't fit Liam or Walters style cos he can't defend. 4m spunked on that. For what? Yeah blame Rosenior for not getting the best from him but Walter isn't either. That's because he's a wingback, not a winger, not a left back. Either get a manager who uses wingbacks or don't sign the player.
