Just my opinion, as always.

Are you telling me that if we lose our next 2 games, TMs position will not come under severe pressure? Coz I think he’d be toast.

I’ll be in my toastie on the 15th <laugh><laugh><laugh>.

You were sure, now it's just a possibility ...

... it's easy to make statements if you're not prepared to back them up.

I’m not sure I want him sacked right now, I think we are doing some things right and it would be harsh but as Sour Patch has highlighted the strikers do make runs. I lost count of how many times Hemir ran in behind Ipswich and pointed to where he wanted the ball and didn’t get it.

First game of the season, haven’t played with a striker for a while fair enough it’s new to them. But 20 games into the season and none of them getting their heads up to see a run in behind is worrying, surely it’s been addressed? Last time I mentioned certain fan favourites being exempt from criticism I got pelters but I stand by that opinion. Clarke is exceptional let’s just get that out of the way first so this is in no way me saying otherwise but how many times does he get the ball and just put his head down and run to the byline? He won a penalty from that exact type of run against Millwall but is beneficial more than it’s of detriment? Roberts has done absolutely nothing all season yet he’s still playing most weeks. Jobe doesn’t look like a 10 but he’s persisting with it. There’s your 3 players who are supposed to be providing service for a striker and they’ve probably got 2-3 assists between them in 19 games.

My biggest gripe with TM is that nothing has changed in 4 months. Same Xl most weeks, same tactics, same mistakes and same results.

Things have changed and he's given people chances they haven't taken.

If people want Mowbray sacked that's fair enough ...

... otherwise they should back him and the team to the hilt imo.

I'm going to the next two home games from Fife ...

... money where my mouth is.

I am positive that he would not survive defeats in the next 2 games. Tho as always that’s my opinion, but I simply cannot see him surviving that.

im assuming you’d be happy sticking with TM, in this scenario?

if it happens and he survives, I’ll get you your toastie.

I've said I'd prefer Mowbray over all of the various people posters have suggested, I don't prevaricate ...

... if you're so positive I'll put up my £100.

Clarke doesn’t pass to our strikers. Maybe he’s being Billy big bollox at the moment and is allowed to get away with it because of his scoring record and the threat of moving. Rusyn will find his feet at some point and say what needs to be said. In the meantime Tony should be doing it. Just a theory

Sunderland AFC has this evening parted company with Head Coach Tony Mowbray.

The Club would like thank Tony for the positive contribution he has made throughout the past two seasons alongside his assistant Mark Venus, who also departs.

Both will always be welcome back at the Stadium of Light and we wish them well for the future.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman commented: “All at SAFC have thoroughly enjoyed working with Tony and he is quite rightly held in high regard by our players and staff, and our supporters.

“After arriving at an uncertain time, he helped guide us to the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs and played an important role in developing our team. This was a difficult decision to make, but we remain loyal to our ambition and our strategy, and felt that now was the right moment to take this step.

“We are now focused on identifying the right candidate and we will continue to support our coaching team and players throughout the interim period.”

Chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus added: “I would like to place on record my gratitude to Tony for his hard work and commitment to Sunderland, a place where he will always be welcome.

“As custodians of our great club, we believe in our long-term strategy that we hope will ensure sustainability and success for SAFC. Central to that approach is a relentless demand for a high performance culture to be implemented throughout the Club and the development of a strong playing identity that you, our loyal supporters, can all be proud of.

“Your continued support will also be fundamental to that progress and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Stadium of Light throughout the festive period and as we enter 2024.”

Supported by the Club’s existing coaching team, Mike Dodds will lead the first-team’s training and match preparations until the process to appoint a new Head Coach has concluded.

Tony Mowbray departs - SAFC
