A big thank you TM from me.
Whatever went on behind the scenes we'll probably never know but the one thing we do know is these last 18 months or so our football has been a pleasure to watch, breathtakingly at times, and certainly never dull.
Wish you well Tone whatever you get up to in the future.

A classy statement from a very classy man. He surprised me in every way possible. I’ll admit I was truly horrified when he got the job and I couldn’t have been more wrong. Thank you sir.

Does he leave with the most respect/love of any other Sunderland manager? Struggling to think of a time we've lost a manager and people haven't already turned on him....

I'd buy him a drink if I bumped into him, cannot say that about many recent managers

Nice touch that from Mowbray, expected nothing else. The fella is a proper gent.

If you take LJs letter and this together, shows you how much we as a club get under the skin of decent managers and coaches. More than anything I look at us as a club that just wants honest people doing their best. Do that and the fans will support everything.

I would like to see him back at a game later this season. Hopefully the play off final :1980_boogie_down: and we can give him a big cheers for what he did.

That Statement comes from a true Gentleman.

I believe that the vast majority of our Fans are highly appreciative of his work here, and MANY of us will have hoped that it had continued.

Class act. Been a long time since a manager has gone with so much goodwill in the bank.

There's maybe only Reid would get a better reception if he turned up to a game.

Very good will always have my respect and fond memories - he was integral in both stabilising and re-establishing our Championship status after those wilderness years

When Neil left I was in the bring in Roy Keane camp. Surprised it was TM but equally surprised the great job he did for us. The season brought some of the best football I have ever seen from the lads. The goal at Reading will always be remembered as one of the best....not only for us but in general. I liked that he was a 'straight shooter' and was to me exactly what we needed to guide the kids with the business model given. Unfortunately by the end of the season injuries took it's toll on the squad and we didn't quite get over the line against Luton. Move onto the new season where we lost Amad but went down the same road with recruitment and brought in four relatively inexperienced kids up front that as of today haven't shown the results hoped for but I think given time will do. We had some great performances earlier against the likes of Southampton but recently there has been struggles which brought to me a large about of unnecessary criticism bearing in mind the bigger outlook of the picture in front of him. We were only three points outside a play off spot so I wouldn't have called it a disaster. Clearly handbags were going on between him and KS...power struggle or whatever it's called. Being a long time fan I hoped as a club we had found some stability at last but wasn't meant to be. I would have hoped before TM had left KLD would have got them both in a room and told them before to sort their sh*t out in the interests of the club. Whatever happened it wasn't meant to be and TM left...interesting to note no mention of KS in his statement. I get it where the club is going and the policies' there implementing. I just hope there is reflection and KS isn't smelling of roses if this happens again with another manager. Seen lots of comments about bringing in some foreign coach....to be honest my thought would be keep to the stability option. Going back in the day to Shankly followed by Paisley and Evans my preferred option would be to go with Dodds till the end of the season and look at it then. Not saying this will get us in the top six however bringing in someone else isn't guaranteed to do that either. I wish TM the best and pleased he finished when all said and done with a touch of class what he said about the club.......onwards and upwards....HTL
