My feelings are a hybrid of you and Lincs.

It is a cheap left field option. However, at this moment in time (and the foreseeable), probably the best option.

He has earned his chance, but just weird to do it before a game and after a defeat.

Yeah I've no huge issue with him getting the job, just very weird timing and unnecessarily heaps the pressure on today's match when we could have given him another week.

Hopefully we win today to take the edge off the nerves.

I know you've defended pretty much everything SR have done this year but even you must see how it makes far more sense to wait a week in this scenario than announce it now no? We could be in a such a different situation this time next week if results don't go our way.

All this has done has shown that we sacked Still without even a whiff of a plan as to what to do after and purely have just winged it with the hope that this guy kept winning. And the first time he loses, we hire him, well done SR, genius!

Blinded by hatred?

How can you say there is no 'whiff of a plan', when they have given the job to the person brought in to eventually succeed Will Still.

You may not like the plan, but it appears to me that Spors has followed the one he set out in summer to the letter.

True, but hopefully they thought Still would last more than 5 minutes so their succession planning is happening a couple of years earlier than expected and I'd imagine they pictured TE having more experience by the time he was due to take over...
It's definitely a gamble based on that, but so is any manager appointment really so I'm happy to give him a go. He's had a good start, let's see how he continues.

This post is so wrong for me. How do you know an 'experienced coach could do better than this ? What about Juric ? What about Pellegrino ? What about Redknapp. Tonda has earned the chance .

The statement about the season being written off if something I would have agreed with you a month ago. I think the play offs are now possible

Sorry , Lincoln, I have to disagree.

An experienced coach could get us promoted, Tonda won't.

I noticed you picked Juric, Pellegrino and Redknapp rather than Koeman, Adkins or Poch.

Either way SR have gone one better than appointing a manager with no experience of the league we're in to appointing a manager who's never managed before full stop. Inspiring stuff

Not saying it hasn't happened years early as Still was void of personality. But it is still a clear plan.

The SR hate crew have completely lost sight of reality though. Tonda has an 80% win rate from 5 games. Anything close to that for the rest of the season and we go up.

Not having a pop but really hoping I can bump this at end of April. I just think, based on nothing, this guy has something maybe an inner steel. Guess we will know either way in the New Year

Five wins from six games would suggest he might have the chops…

So who the **** is this experienced coach that's going to get us promoted?

Love what Tonda has brought in. Sure, it's not always been great but that's football. But he's getting the best out of our attacking players which Still, er, wasn't to put it mildly. He'll certainly get plenty of time from the fans because he's made St Mary's a fun place to watch football again. I did think the timing of the appointment last night was slightly odd but I wasn't concerned by it. He's changed the minds of lots of fans (including mine) about his suitability for the role. Also THB is back to his best - he's suddenly become a key player with his defending and his passes out from the back.

If I am honest, I think Still would have taken a season to settle the ship. I believe he would be a better prospect after a second season. However, I have to say Tonda has got us winning, playing better football, rejuvenated our players and pushing us towards the play offs. It is fun to watch football again. Just amazed that there are still people complaining about this !

I so hope this works. I think this guy could be a top manager. I thought Azaz was joke buy of the year. Yet this guy has got him playing. Others have soared too.

So pleased? Yes. My only concern is his lack of experience if things go belly up. He’ll need support and the current rag-tag lot at the top won’t offer that. As for the timing, maybe Liverpool were looking at him!

Certainly one of the better manager appointments we’ve made.
