Tonda's going to lose the fans pretty quickly if he doesn't at least try playing with a back four soon. Not subbing off any of the 3 CBs is not doing him any favours and is the reason why the build ups are so slow even at the end of the match.
It's criminal to me that we haven't tried all of our signings in their natural positions together at any time this season.

This will be our our best starting XI hopefully (everybody fit)

New GK
Jelert THB Wood Manning
Charles Jander
Fellows Azaz Leo
Adarma/Stewart/New striker

I was going to pick Edwards but I fear that we will lose him this month.

I was always in the “give him till Jan” and assess camp. It’s inevitable that any manager coming in was going to have a bounce really, as we had been very unlucky in a lot of Will Still’s games not to get more goals and points and with all the summer signings they were always gonna need time to click.

If he was still interim after the performances at this stage, I’d be keeping him as interim until end of season and going from there.

The most worrying thing foe me currently is, the games we are losing against are mostly bottom of the division teams and the teams we put in better performances and manage a point are towards the top. Not a good recipe for success imo. Think we will have to accept mid table this year on current viewing!

I think Eckert should have got something out of rhe Oxford game but, other than that, i think he has been ok. The first five games set a high bar and the football was a joy to watch. Not sure what has happened recently but i think the lack of depth in quality amongst the players is an issue.

I just feel that those thinking automatic promotion was possible were under estimating the negative impact of Russell Martin. Promotion next year is realistic but just feel we need to let the team gel for a season and be patient.

i am all for giving Tonda a chance. He is better than Still. Lincoln's comments are always too critical. Just a matter of being patient.

Too critical for this forum, maybe. Looking at social media and saintsweb, I'm a ****ing happy-clapper!

Anyway I wouldn't be so harsh on Tonda if he:
A) Wasn't another manager totally wedded to a specific formation
B) Tried to play a game for the full 45 minutes as opposed to a school u11s where everyone gets a run out
C) Stopped talking utter bollocks about the importance of the next game when we aren't even competing in the current one.

SR are totally at fault for appointing him in the first place but that doesn't mean he's a lovable scamp trying his best, who doesn't deserve criticism. He wants a seat at the big boy table then he can get the same **** as competent, experienced managers.

Gotta say I hear it completely. As much as I think from what we’ve seen so far he probs deserves this season, he’s got a lot to learn and progress in to be good enough for next season once we ultimately finish mid table.

For me, it runs more down to we should’ve had a more experienced Championship option lined up in the summer. Looking back, Rohl was an absolute must really

Need experienced coach next year

We were desperate, absolutely desperately needing an experienced hand this season. Someone who had experience of the league, someone who had been through it before, who had dealt with a whole range of players (Internationals, those from a foreign league, kids)
We needed someone with balls and gravitas.

SR ignored that. TWICE

Yep. I have also never hated any owners as much as I despise these absolute cocksuckers.

They have sucked any enjoyment out of watching games for years now (in fact last season and this are for me the worse we have ever been playing), and I would rather go back to L1 in administration than have these ****s continue.

I've never got beyond the feeling that THB and Edwards, within a back four, is our best option at CB. I would be disappointed if we don't ever try it out, as it increasingly appears we won't. A question which might forever remain unanswered.

Yeah, that and not trying Fellows, Azaz and Leo as RAM, AM and LAM behind the striker with two DM/CMs behind them has annoyed me the most.
It just seems common sense to try it but we always get a manager that overlooks the obvious somehow.

Iam not so sure SR ignored looking at experience.

Liam Rossenior was the primary target with Rohl a close second. Because of different reasons we were not able to get either. Still impressed in his interview and his record was ok.

It obviously didn't work out and I still think that it was the right thing to do to appoint Tonda when we did.

I’m not sure it was right to appoint Tonda when we did. We literally could have left him in temporary charge, we could have just let it play out to see how he did and what was available in the market.

Utter stupidity to find the need to appoint when we did as it now means we are stuck with him until the summer.

That doesn’t mean he won’t work out, he may and that will be great but we literally removed all future options for this season.

As for experience, we went for one of the least experienced coaches in Still, but SR weren’t content, they had to hire someone with absolutely zero managerial experience as his replacement.

It is like SR never learn from mistakes, they have to be he most clever person in the room.

They are taking the fans for ****ing mugs.

Absolute ****s.

Sometimes it is a good thing to fully back a manager and based on his results and the massive turn around that he made, I had no problem with that.

I don't think there is an obvious formula that it takes to be a great manager in the Championship.

You want someone with experience, Rooney?, Steve Bruce? Gerrard etc, they would have gone down well I'm sure. or Gary ONeill .

Tonda is still holding his own.

And I’m sure there are loads of other experienced managers that are Rooney etc that could’ve don’t a great job. I’m not sure why you decided to list names of coaches that aren’t so great!

What massive turnaround are we seeing btw?

Still 3CBs, slow ponderous football. As bad as anything we say under Still.

He did great to start, and he may turn out great, but the point you appear to overlook is we literally gained noting by appointing him when they did, we could have waited.

Why didn’t we wait?
