I couldn't agree more. It really ****s me off when the media go on about them being a bastion of what football should be and what all clubs should aspire to in terms of purity yet they're cheating, nasty, classless ****s. Remember turning on the sprinklers where the Inter team celebrated after knocking them out after cheating feigning a poke in the eye to get Thiago Motta sent off and winking when the ref bought it?

And they are so ****ing boring to watch. 25 sideways passes then back to the keeper isn't my idea of entertainment.

I agree with you about the cheating in that Inter game and it might well be something they often do (I don't see them that often) but when I do see them they look amazing. It's a complete myth that all their passing is in their own half. Look at their game against Milan, they were brilliant. The goals they scored were just ridiculously good. In fact they're probably the best team at passing under pressure in advanced positions, particularly Iniesta, that's why they're ****ed over.

Personally I prefer that to all the unjustified ****ing that goes on over German football nowadays.

I just totally disagree, I think a lot of the hatred towards them is born out of jealousy, they're so far ahead of everyone else it's frightening. I can't believe anyone could watch them demolish Italy 4-0 in the final of the Euros and then say:

"500 passes without any goal threat, score 1 or 2 and just pass out the rest of the game. Think ive nodded off in all their games.

Whereas teams like Italy and Germany are quality to watch as of late."

They made a mockery of Italy in that game whilst playing great football, their left-back (Alba) was further forward for Spain than Cassano was for Italy most of the game!

Agree with this. Alba is a brilliant player, probably my favourite full back in world football after Brady. His goal against Milan in injury time and the one in the Euros final were both just stupidly good.

Yes, so Chelsea were the best team in Europe last year but the third best in England. Hmm ...

What about the JPT, are Crewe the best side in League's 1 and 2 or does that go to whoever wins League 1? <laugh>

Competitions in sports are held to decide the best performer.

They are indeed, but in a knock-out cup competition, one off-day, or one poor refereeing decision can see you out of the competition, the best team doesn't always win.

You have to be a good team to win the Champions League, but you don't have to be the best team, many factors can see better teams get knocked out and regularly do.

I have to say that I agree with this.

Spot on OLM.

BCC, there is such thing as too logical. Looking just at knockout cup wins to judge who's the best team is a bit daft. It's like saying the top scorer is always the best striker. This is why I prefer to ignore the stats and just talk my own brand of bullshit.

So where do we all think City rank in terms of Championship teams? If we get promoted do we deserve it? If so based on what? I mean, we've been shocking on tv and our top scorer hasnt hit double figures.....

No one is disputing the fact that a 46-match league is likely to end up with a fair reflection of the teams involved.

What (I think) everyone else is trying to get across to you is that most people would tip Barcelona to win if, say, an eight-month 42-match (each) "Super League" began tomorrow between, say, them, Real, Bayern, Dortmund, PSG, Juventus, AC Milan and Man Utd. That would leave everyone pretty confident that the "best team" would be top of the pile. You simply can't say that about knockout tournaments.

Just look and tennis and golf - the best player doesn't win every tournament. It's only over a lot of tournaments and a long period of time that you can make any judgement about who is the best.

I believe it's technically a league/knockout competition on the basis that there is a mini-league prior to the knockout stages beginning but then there are very few 'knockout' competitions that don't follow that sequence.

City are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen. But they have off days, and are **** on tv. And according to ISPLT, our strikers are ****e because they don't kick the ball cleanly, and don't put the ball in the sides of the goal when they score

And teams that come 4th in the league are knocked out. The team in 3rd are knocked out and join the Europa League, and after the group stages it is a straight knock out competition.

So back on topic, does anyone who does think Barca is the best team in the world care to explain why? Genuinley interested.
