Quote me where in the Highway Code that it says 'get up to the speed limit as quickly and safely as possible'.

The Highway Code refers you to Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, Driving without reasonable consideration. and Section 3ZA of the Road Safety Act 2006.unnecessarily slow driving or braking without good cause.

The Highway Code clearly states that you should drive at approximately double the speed limit, unless of course there are 'safety' camera's, or unmarked police cars.

Everyone knows that ffs.

They even put that bit in hand written byro to make sure it stands out. <ok>

Bikers are legally obliged to speed between 2 rows of cars on dual carriage ways too. It says on their license "tear down the dotted line"

Motorway/duel carriageway drivers that drive in the same lane even if there's 2 empty lane on the inside of them and you have to do a three lane manoeuvre to get passed the bastards....

and then speed up as you overtake them. Knobs

That is completely different to saying 'get up to the speed limit as quickly and safely as possible' and you know it. Nobody disputed that driving unnecessarily slow was dangerous and annoying. It doesnt mean you have to drive at the speed limit.

it's the same thing really, but don't tell me, tell the judge, he may even believe you. <ok>

I agree. I always drive at the speed limit and have 9 penalty points for speeding. It doesnt mean everyone else HAS to.

Limit is the maximum, not an obligation.

How do you get nine points for speeding if you always drive at the speed limit?
