BREAKING: Irish boxer Kellie Harrington, an Olympic Gold Medalist in 2021, has said she will REFUSE to compete against any boxers who are biological males at this Olympics. There are currently 2 men participating in ladies event in Paris.

It's a sensitive topic that is now used as a political football. Either way, women have a choice of who they wish to compete with and they have the right to exercise that decision. The authorities will eventually have to make some sort of decision that will be affected if enough competitors drop out.

Women and men generally don't compete together in contact sports for very specific reasons and how someone feels 'mentally' doesn't always equal the same way 'biologically'. I've been hit by a couple of women over the years and it really doesn't hurt that much, unless you get a ring finger in the eye, compared to being hit by a fella on the rugby pitch.

I don't know the answer, but it is odd how many men to women transexuals participate in high level sport, compared to exist in society as a whole - I'd met one in 55 years, but now there's a few playing for teams in the top handball league here, sometimes against one of my daughters.

Smart performance last night from a woman boxer fighting under refugee status. She lives in UK and trains here but couldnt compete for GB as she has no passport... beat a Canadian former World Champion...

This outrageous and very dangerous, whom ever allowed this, needs to be taken to task.

Has the tranny fought the fanny in the boxing yet??
Being transgender is illegal in Algeria Chazz…

They have a uterus but a genetic condition that means they produce unnatural levels of testosterone as a woman.

They’re quite literally 9-5 as an amateur in boxing against women.

It is a bit troubling how effectively misinformation spreads lately. This Algerian boxer's victory seems to have spread like wildfire all over social media and loads of people seem to have assumed, or been encouraged to assume that the boxer is transgender. Then when more objective outlets like the BBC refer to her as a woman people are reacting furiously at their perceived white-washing.

I think it's a bit of a worry how it's become so easy to whip up an angry mob with little scrutiny of whether the thing they're railing against is even true.

It’s all the people who call others sheep as well. A minute long google search stopped me agreeing with the sentiment a lot are sharing.

A poor woman who’s worked hard to be where she is now is now being discredited because of a condition out of her control

Lately?
Its how social media works
Dead internet theory is not a conspiracy

Twitter has inadvertantly ended up being the most powerful news site in the world

Millions of bots can change the algorithims for what trends
Its why **** musk bought it in the first place

Its also why allegations/missinformation/lies of any kind are so dangerous
Becasue once the wrong information is out
The damage is done and its never undone
Its the most dangerous propganda to ever exist

The first news of whatever it is, is the one that does all the damage, flies far faster and wider
Corrections dont get anywhere close to the trend

Cindy.. she trains at the same gym as me. The girl she beat was the favourite for the gold.. she is a great person and a special boxer.

This isn’t a trans issue, it’s about whether a woman with the body, strength and testosterone levels of a man, should be allowed to box women. It’s not table tennis, someone could get seriously hurt.

OLM she’s literally lost multiple times to women.

Also if you’re on twitter at present you can clearly see she’s being used to push anti trans rhetoric

The reason its blown up is becasue
Actual trans women have been competing unfairly in other sports
Rightly or wrongly

Ive no idea how much of an effect a woman with more testorestone due to a condition has
So wont comment

The news here states she was born intersex and had her male genitalia removed at birth. That would make me think that she's not trans, but a category that might not be suitable for boxing women.

Losing over 5 times to biological women suggests different.
