Opening ceremony is Friday but the footballs starting tomorrow!!!
So the cheating Argies are on at 2.
Spain are too
And France v USA at 8pm tomorrow night.

Really looking forward too it, always do... Keeley Hodgkinson is our banker yes...?.. 800 metres

Supposedly... She's in great form the last few months.

Molly Caudery in the pole vault and potentially Josh Kerr in the 1500m if Jakob Ingebrigtsen has an off day.

Adam Peaty in swimming, tom Pidcock in cycling and Delicious Orie in boxing. Rowing has been the biggest waste of investment for the UK Olympic team as not generated much world class talent in the last 8 years.

It’s not the winning, it’s the taking part…

It's all about the winning, because it's less than minimum wage if they don't. The majority of olympic sports generate next to no income for those out the top three.

Surely everyone should get a medal as it is so unfair on those who don’t?

There’s some really interesting articles about past Olympians in the guardian
Victoria Pendleton made that same point

I'm not sure what your input is here. Are you comparing encouraging young children to be involved, feel valued and compete in sport with training professional elite athletes?

It was a joke. Of course encouraging winners from the start helps breed success.

If you are looking for an outside bet for a gold medal then in the female section for boxing a lady called Cindy Ngamba is a good call. Search for her and look at what she has achieved over the last few years. But never really gets mentioned. Exceptional talent.

The UK came second in the medals table in 2012 and 2016 and 4th(?) in 2020. Incredible achievement and unmatched since the era when the majority of countries didn't have public sports facilities.

Pretty certain she got denied British citizenship unfortunately, so she'll be fighting under another country flag?

Charlotte Dujardin, a probable gold.medal winner for us has withdrawn and now suspended from the sport of dressage after a video from 4yrs ago has been released showing her hitting a horses leg, she has accepted it was 'out of character' but is suspended pending further investigations. For those who don't know here, she is the joint most successful British Olympian of all time.
